I was on the Missouri death records index extensively on Friday night. I entered one of my surnames of interest in the basic search and it came up with NOTHING. Since I knew there should have been several hits, I was quite disappointed. I then went to the 'advanced search' and entered only the same information I had in the basic search and got all the hits I had expected. I repeated the experiment with that surname and with a couple others with exactly the same results - no hits on the basic, several on the advanced. I also discovered that even though a death occurred in the CITY of St. Louis, it might show up in the county. YMMV. Bob Emnett
