Oak St., Irondale, MO, formerly of El Paso, IL, died at 2:20 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2005 at Potosi Manor Nursing Home in Potosi, MO. Cremation was accorded. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at Charity Baptist Church, Bismarck, MO with Eld. Charles Evans and Eld. Lee Miller officiating. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Betty was born March 20, 1918 in Jenks, Oklahoma, a daugher of William J. and Mary Stella (Hester) Gardner. She married Grady W. Slayton on December 10, 1938. She is survived by her husband Grady W. Slayton; two sons, Gregory W. and wife Ann; and Marion S. and wife Darlene; and two grandsons, Gregory Jr., and Marc A. Slayton. She and her husband also raised four foster daughters; Cathy, Linda, Carol and Julie that have been assimilated into the family. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Gardner; a sister, Mry Lou Crawford; and a brother, James Lester Gardner.
