He was born May 19, 1956 in Berryman, Missouri, a son of Gladys (Haffer) Hammond and the late Harold Hammond. Paul, as he was known to family and friends, was united in marriage to Barbara Ames on August 9, 1975 at Cadet, Missouri, and three children were born to this union. He was a loving husband and father, a dear son and brother and a treasured friend to many. In addition to his father, Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Hammond; a sister, Lavern Hammond and a brother-in-law, Dick Woods. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving and devoted wife Barbara Hammond of Potosi; mother Gladys Hammond of Irondale; two daughters, LaDonna Smith and husband Kenneth of Eureka, California and April Hammond of Potosi; a son, James Hammond of Potosi; three sisters, Louise Willard and husband Bill of Hazelwood, Marie Woods of Irondale and Alma Thurmond and husband Jim of Cuba; two grandchidlren; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at the Britton Chapel, with Rev. John Welch officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: James Hammond, Chris Misuraco, Harry Woods, Keith Hammond, Tony Benson, Will Wade, Buck Ward, and Eddie Barczenski; honorary pallbearers were: George Kean and Mike Sanders. Interment was in Haffer Cemetery at Berryman. All arrangements were entrusted to the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi. Independent Journal, Potosi, MO, Thursday, July 21, 2005
