She was born February 13, 1943 at Pond Creek, Missouri, a daughter of the late Lige and Sylvia (Cain) DeClue. Vernon was united in marriage to Joseph Emily on August 8, 1959 at Potosi, Missouri and to this union five children were born. In addition to her parents, Vernon was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Sylvia Emily. Those who remain to mourn her passing include her husband, Joseph Emily; two daughters, Cynthia Adams of Mineral Point, Sandy Saunders and husband Reggie of Mineral Point; two sons, Steven Emily of Mineral Point and Mark "Pete" Emily and wife Jean of Mineral Point; two sisters, Dolly Hawkins and husband Sam of Potosi, and Wanda Miner of Bonne Terre; three brothers, Harvey DeClue and special friend Tory of Potosi, Johnny DeClue and wife Nancy of Mineral Point and Raymond DeClue and wife Margie of Lake of the Ozarks; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and freinds who will sadly miss her. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2005 at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Phil Wade officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Don Emily, Derrick Emily, Ray Metcalf, David Hawkins, Matthew DeClue and Anthony DeClue. Interment and final prayers were held in the Joseph Emily Cemetery, Mineral Point, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
