He departed this life at St. Francois Manor in Farmington, Missouri, Saturday, May 20, 2006 having attained the age of 41 years, seven months and 16 days. John enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all spending time with his family. John was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Akins and two brothers, James Edward Akins and Louis W. Marshall. John is survived by his mother, Mary Akins of Farmington; one brother, Steve Akins of Ironton; four sisters, Diane Nees of Bismarck; Pam English of Fenton; Deborah Belfield of Potosi, and Kim English of Eureka. John is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing. Funeral services were held at the McSpadden Funeral Home, Ellington, MO on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Sharp officiating. Burial was in Corridon-Reynolds Cemetery, Ellington. Pallbearers were: Dennis English, Mike Barnum, Mike Jeffries, Jerry Rennie, Elmer Winingar and Caleb King. Arrangements were by McSpadden Funeral Home, Inc., Ellington, Missouri.
