Mr. Chilton attended Braggadocio schools. July 7, 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in St. Louis. He received his Honorable Discharge October 1, 1945 in St. Louis. He was employed as the Potosi Ameren UE Manager prior to his retirement. Chilton was a member of the American Legion VFW, Lions Club, Rotary Club and belonged to the Coon Hunters Association. Survivors include two daughers, Jonnie Cross and husband Donald, Springfield, MO, and Demetra Franklin, Potosi; three grandchildren, Paul Johnecheck, Springfield; Scott Cross, Nixa, MO and Jo Walker-Clark, Chilton, St. Louis; many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Johnecheck and two brothers, Edd and Bob Chilton. Funeral services and interment with full military honors were at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006 in Caruthersville, MO H.S. Smith funeral Home, Caruthersville, was in charge of arrangements.
