Surnames: LUBICH, SCHMITT, CLAUDER, WILKINS, BUNGER, HALE, BOMMARITO, THOMAS Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lNB.2ACI/4245 Message Board Post: Born December 26, 1950...died February 18, 2006. Married to William (Bill) Schmitt; daughter of Jacob and the late Llauna Lubich; sister of Laura (Kenneth K-9) Clauder; twin sister Kathy Wilkins (Grandma's House Antiques); stepmother to Jenny, Julie and William Jr.; loving step-grandmother to Justin, Austin, Brooke and TJ; aunt to Tammy Bunger, Melita Hale, Gaetano Bommarito and Jacob Thomas; great aunt to Jacob, Aaron, Jason, Joe, Sam, Melissa, Sarah, Nicholas, Alyssa, Alex and Natalie. Patti came into this world by grabbing Kathy's hand and saying "ready or not here we go" and she ran full speed ever since. She loved to have hoe-downs and sock hops, bar-b-ques and pool parties. She loved her juke box full of 1950's and 60's music. Even at the end when we played the juke box for her she was laying her bed and pretending to dance and sing. She fought a hard fight and brought inspiration to so many. Nurses at St. Anthony's Hospital would stop in to tell her how she had inspired them and others with her outlook on life and death and her bravery. K-9 dubbed the Lubich girls (Laura, Kathy and Patti) the "Leave-the-Lu-off-girls." And she never disappointed him. Her sense of humor was with her until the end. To celebrate her life and say goodbye to her family and friends she wanted them to come to one last big pary on the 18th. And come they did. It was named "Patti's Smiling Faces Only" party. She told everyone that "No sad faces were allowed." She had a large red grinning mouth banner on the wall above her bed and happy face balloons tied to each corner. She recognized everyone and spoke with them as best she could. We all traded "Patti" stories and celebrated her life. When the party broke up around 9 p.m. she was then able to leave us and be with her loved ones who were waiting to greet her with open arms. All of her friends and family will miss her dearly, but especially her husband Bill. As he was tell her how much he loved her and always would, she opened her eyes and gazed at him with love and then slipped away. Her viewing will be at Hoffmeister Morturary on Lemay Ferry Rd on Tuesday, the 21st of February. A private memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 22. One of her last wishes was to have her ashes interred with her maternal grandmother, Zella Miller at Mr. Hope Cemetery in south St. Louis County. Memorial were suggested to the American Lung Association. Written by twin sister Kathy Wilkins. Independent Journal, Potosi, MO, Thursday, February 23, 2006
