She was born October 25, 1918 in Dillard, Missouri, the daughter of Lee and Evelyn Louise (Baker) Stringer. October 27, 1934 in Steelville, Missouri she was united in marriage to Fred F. Bobbitt who died February 26, 1984. Addie was survived by two sons, William Bobbitt of Bourbon and Jimmy Bobbitt of Columbia; three daughters, Joyce Phares and husband Lacy of Salem; Rita Hunter and husband John of Salem and Mary Lou LaPlant and husband Thomas of Steelville; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and three half sisters, Virginia Hazelton of New York State, Elsie Stein of Mexico, MO and Norma Webber of Cuba. She was preceded in death by one son, Marion; four brothers, Curtis Stringer, Alvie Reeves, Delbert Albert Stringer and Paul Reeves; one half sister, Katherine Davis and two grandchildren. Addie was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of St. James. Funeral services for Addie Bobbitt were conducted Tuesday, February 21, 2006 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, with Rev. Bryan Dixon officiating. Serving as casketbearers werre: Drew Friede, Allen Bobbitt, Chris Sweeney, Roger Stinger, Terry Reeves and Jerry Reeves. Committal prayers and burial were in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in St. James. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville.
