She was born April 26, 1913 in Viburnum, Missouri, a daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Dora Pearl (Moses) Miller. On August 12, 1932 she was united in marriage to Lyle Elmer Hicks in Caledonia, Missouri, and two daughters were born to this union. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lyle Hicks; her parents, Thomas and Dora Miller and three sisters, Lula Hull, Zelma Reese and Jerene Palmer. Not only was Ruth a loving an devoted wife and mother, she also accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 13 in a little county schoolhouse. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Middlebrook, MO. Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life are two daughters; Margaret Phillips of Potosi, and Hilda Raggo and her husband Kenny of Ironton; three grandchildren, Terry and Gary McCallum and Carmen Breakfield; six great grandchildren; Tonya, Falisa, Lyle, Josh, Zachary and Kennedy; two great-great grandchildren; Tyler and Taylor; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Eld. Carl Gillam and Eld. Roy Lynn Brakefield officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Roger Breakfield, Josh Milton, Lyle McCallum, Jeremey Dennis, Tyson Beffa and Charles Miller. Interment and final prayers followed at Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery, Caledonia, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
