Memorial services were held Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit. Thelma was born December 22, 1909 in Belgrade, MO, the only daughter of Chester C. and Grace (Parkin) McNabb. Thelma had six older brothers: Paul, Carl, Ross, Earl, Ira and Floyd McNabb who worshipped their "Sis," and all preceded her in death. Thelma married Thomas R. Garrett, also of Belgrade where they lived for a few years. Tom was a barber then. Thelma and husband Tom moved to Flat River, where they raised their children. Tom died at the age of 63 years. Soon after Tom's death Thelma moved to Lee's Summit to be near her oldest son Tom. Thelma is survived by two sons, Tom and wife Sonnie Garrett of Lee's Summit, and Ron and wife Shirley Garrett of Cape Fair, MO; one daughter, Janet Sue Garrett of Waukesha, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins in Washington County and the surrounding area.
