He was born December 5, 1923 at San Augustine, Texas, a son of the late Henry Allen and Annilea (Hamilton) Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Caleb D. Cooper and Joshua Magee. Troy was united in marriage to Maurelian Sparks on June 2, 1957 at Dallas, Texas and four children were born to this union. He was a member of the Temple Missionary Baptist Church, Belgrade where he served as a Deacon and Musical Director for many years. He was ordained as a Deacon in Angleton, Texas. Troy was proud to have served his country in the Army during World War II in the Phillippines; he received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead Phillippine Liberation Medal with one Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Ribbon with three overseas service bars. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving and devoted wife Maurelian Cooper of Belgrade, three sons, Timothy Cooper and wife Donna of Belgrade, Mark Cooper of Bonne Terre and Paul Cooper and wife Beth of Belgrade; one daughter Charlotte Magee and husband Ronnie of Corpus Christi, TX; a brother, J.B. Cooper and wife Dorothy of Tyler,TX; two sisters, Jessie Porter and husband Joe of Whittier, CA, and Mildren Vaughn of Tyler, TX; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005 at the Temple Missionary Baptist Church, Belgrade, with Rev. Melvin Meade and Rev. Wayne Gibson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Timothy Cooper, Mark Cooper, Paul Cooper, Brandon Magee, Zachary Sadler, Jason Sparks, Abijah Sparks and Ron Pierce. Interment was in the Sunlight Cemetery, Belgrade Route, under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi. Independent Journal, Potosi, MO, Thursday, April 7, 2005
