He was born October 24, 1918 at Carthage, Missouri, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Boyd. He married Madge Birks and to this union three children were born. Madge preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, Roy was also preceded in death by three sisters, Sylvia Florence and Pearl Boyd and a brother, Theodore Boyd. Those who remain to mourn his passing include two daughters, Beverly Boyd of Cadet and Debra Smith; a son, Michael Boyd and wife Linda of High Ridge; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis County. Serving as pallbearers were: Scott Kelley, Cody Thomas, Denning Buechner, Dustin Merseal, Jerry Fudge and Rick Wills. All arrangements were by Britton Funeral Home, Potosi.
