She was born October 2, 1926 at Ft. Collins, Colorado, a daughter of the late George and Hilda Marie (Wiegand) Hawley. Barbara was united in marriage to Hurlen Gilliam September 24, 1947 at Courtois, Missouri and two children were born to this union. Mr. Gilliam preceded her in death on December 10, 1995. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, June Cowles and three brothers, James, Bruce and Eugene Hawley. Mrs. Gilliam was a dedicated housewife and was a faithful member of the Solid Rock Family Church in Jefferson City. She loved pets and enjoyed making and shopping for crafts, collecting angels, knitting and working puzzles. She also enjoyed sending cards to family and friends for all occasions. She was a lover of music and liked to record different church programs and music from the radio. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her daughter, Margaret "Maggie" White, and Brent Butler of Lohman; a son, David Gilliam and wife Windy of Sparta; sister-in-law, Clotine Harris of Belgrade; brother-in-law, Gene Gilliam and wife Ruth of Belgrade; six grandchidlren, Stacy, Chuck, Alex, Skylar, Samantha and Sarah; one great-granddaughter, Calista and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and firends who will sadly miss her. Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Joseph Skiles and Rev. Lynn Thebeau officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Avondale Gilliam, Michael Brame, Josh Harris, Wayne Harris, Jamie Vavak, Gary Jones, Chuck White and Alex Gilliam. Interment was in the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi. Independent Journal, Potosi, MO, Thursday, December 1, 2005
