I have never objected to anyone using anything from my web site as long as...they give appropriate acknowledgement as to their source or credit where credit is due. Posting these pictures under their name gives the impression to those who don?t know that the "borrower" photographed the tombstones when indeed they did not. I have been doing genealogy/cemeteries for over 40 years. I put blood, sweat, tears, heart & soul into my work. I have gone to a LOT of trouble to obtain most of my tombstone pictures. Even though I am not a morning person there have been times when I have had pain pills for breakfast after dragging my old, tired, aching, fibromyalgic, arthritic body out of bed very early to visit a cemetery so as to get the sunlight at the right angle. I have endured blazing hot summer sun & bitter winter cold. Have also braved poison ivy, poison oak, chiggers, ticks, mosquitoes, snakes, pigs, horses, a goat, crawdads, spiders, been bitten by a fire ant & been chased by cows. Trekked through shoulder high weeds, crawled on my hands & knees through thick brush, been scratched by briars, climbed through or over barbed wire fences, climbed trees & even fell in a creek once. All to get at & photograph those long lost cemeteries & tombstones to preserve them for posterity. Therefore I don?t feel that I?m being selfish, unfair or unreasonable for being upset when someone posts my tombstone pictures under their name & doesn?t acknowledge me or give me credit as the photographer. I gave the ?borrowers? ample time to correct things but they have not complied with my request to either remove my tombstone pictures that they posted or give me credit as the photographer. And at my age I will not sit back & politely let someone else take credit for all of my hard work so I have been forced to report these persons to the Find-A-Grave management. > > > > Esther M. Thanks for the support everyone - it really means a lot. Especially after the?cr*p someone on Find-A-Grave was dealing me last night. She wanted me to remove the picture I had taken of her ancestors tombstone while the "borrowers" picture would remain. It seems this particular "borrower" can no longer be reached as there is no email address on her profile & she has shut down her public & private messages. I explained my situation to the woman wanting me to remove my picture & told her that when the "borrower" removed her pic then I would be glad to remove mine. Well, this person went balistic, deleted her ancestors page & told me I was no better than the people that?used my pictures. Now for the first time in my over 40 years of genealogy research I am seriously wondering if it is all worth it. I don't do it for fame or fortune but I don't like others using me to acquire their recognition either. All I want is honest credit for what I do but apparently some people think that is wrong. Anyway, thanks again everyone for your support. ? P.S. There are a lot of tombstone pics on the Washington County GenWeb site that need to be credited to me too. ? Esther M.
