?Hey Tom - There are pics of a Campbell family home/farm at the url below.? I am also forwarding your letter to Pat Ramsey as she may know something about the Campbells you are looking for: http://carrollscorner.net/SitesWashCo_Campbell-OhanlonFarm.htm Thanks, Do you know which Campbells owned the house, or where it is located? Campbell is a very common name. I've found 6 unrelated families in 5 different townships on the 1850 census. If we know where the house was, I may be able to narrow down which family owned it. Tom
Tom the Campbell house is located about 2 miles out Hwy 8 west. I'll see if I can get ahold of Pat Ramsey & try to find out more info for you as I can't remember anymore the first names of the Campbells that owned the place. Will get back to you soon............. Cecil J. Cash – By: Esther Ziock Carroll - ©ZIOCK63664 This incident was considered to be the worst WAR CRIME committed against American soldiers in the western European Theatre of WWII. Much has been published about this event but only a very few authors have included mention of my relative. So I have written his story giving him the full recognition he deserves. This story provides a detailed account of Sgt. Cecil J. Cash's tragic demise when he along with 80+ other unarmed American P.O.W.'s were brutally MURDERED by Nazis on the second day of the Battle of the Bulge, 17 December 1944. This is the TRUE story of Sgt. Cash of the 197th Anti-Aircraft Artillery, Automatic Weapons Battalion. Sgt. Cash of St. Francois County, Missouri , USA , is my step-father by way of being the first husband of my mother Pearl Martin Cash Ziock Foree of Washington County, Missouri, USA. Sgt. Cash's military history begins at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis in 1942 & covers his two year tour of duty through five states, two continents, & six countries. The story includes excerpts from Sgt. Cash's personal correspondence with his wife as he forges his way through France, Belgium & Luxembourg with thousands of other American soldiers liberating Europe from Hitler's evil Nazi Regime & bringing an end to the Holocaust & the Third Reich. I just got off the phone with Pat. It was really nice talking to her again. Her ancestor, Catherine O'Hanlon married one of the Campbells that was connected with the farm. Wm. David Campbell who was married to Henrietta Hall I think is who owned the farm. Here are the names of some of the children that were raised on the Campbell farm: Alice, John, Annie, Phillip. There were others but she couldn't remember them. She has more info but is not feeling well & hasn't been for sometime so she just wasn't up to digging through her files. She is going to have heart surgery on Wednesday. Another person who has a lot of Campbell info is Gladys Carter. I've never met Gladys but she is on my friends list on Facebook so I will see if I can get her contact info for you. She is a retired school teacher................ Sorry but for some reason I can't access her info - Facebook has been giving me a hard time lately ever since they changed to this most recent format. Below is the url for her FB page, maybe you will have better luck than me. :-) https://www.facebook.com/#!/gladys.carter.16/about You might try writing a letter to the editor of our local newspaper, The Independent Journal, about trying to locate Campbell descendants. Their address is: P.O. Box 340, Potosi, Mo. 63664. Phone: 573-438-5141 - Fax: 573-438-4472 - email: [email protected] Hope this info helps you. If I findd anything else on the Campbells I will let you know............ Esther M.
