Author: posterone Surnames: MAJOR, FARROW, BEQUETTE, HOY, RADFORD, CRADER, GLORE, MILLER, GERSTENSCHLAGER Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.washington/8091/mb.ashx Message Board Post: William Lee Major, son of Charles and Elizabeth Major, was born in Washington County, Mo., near Potosi on Aug. 10, 1869, and departed this life Jan. 23, 1942, at Bonne Terre, at the age of 72 years, 5 months, 13 days. He was married to Elizabeth Farrow in Potosi on April 1, 1890. To this union five children were born, two boys and three girls. His wife and one son, Thomas preceded their father and husband in death. Those who survive are: Luther Major of Elvins, Mrs. Harry (Fannie) Bequette, St. Louis, Mrs. Homer (Stella) Bequette, Bonne Terre, Mrs. Harry (Lena) Hoy, wife of Rev. Harry Hoy of Dallas, Texas. On August 8, 1915, Mr. Major again married, this time to Mrs. Lina Radford of Flat River. To this union three children were born: William Major, Jr at home, Mrs. Milford (Nadine) Crader of Elvins, Lester Major at home. Besides his wife and those already mentioned, he is survived by five stepchildren, Elza Radford of Flat River, Mrs. Willard Glore, Flat River, Mrs. Bert Miller, Steelville, Ralph Radford of Farmington, Mrs. Kenneth Gerstenschlager of Flat River, also one brother Ben Major of Potosi; 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mr. Major made a profession of faith in Christ as his Saviour and united with the Elvins Baptist church by the pastor, Rev. D. D. Seger and interment was made in Parkview cemetery at Farmington.
