Mrs. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by Franklin County Coroner Stanley Meyer. The Franklin County Sheriff's Department reported the plane crash occurred about 2:45 P.M. Monday. Mrs. Johnson was flying alone and apparently took off from St. Clair airport enroute to Spirit of St. Louis Airport, Chesterfield. Federal Aviation Administration investigators were being awaited to determine the cause of the crash. Mrs. Johns was termed as a housewife-pilot, who had a good reputation in the sky according to reports quoting St. Clair Airport manager Fred Atkinson. He said she had been flying over 20 years. Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Charles and Maude Green. Green was a former Caledonia High School Superintendent. Mrs. Johnson was said to be well-known yet in the Caledonia area with several friends still remaining from her school days there.
