H. and Sarah Settle Stuart was born August 26, 1865 at Old Mines, and departed this life August 8, 1960 at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 12 days. She was united in marriage to Firmin L. Maxwell, March 4, 1891 who preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1920. To this union were born four sons, Carl (now deceased), Earl of Payette, Idaho, William of Waitsburg, Wash., and Curtis of Caledonia. She joined the church in young womanhood and remained a faithful member until her death. She leaves to mourn her passing three sons, four daughters-in-law, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; many relatives and friends. Her body lay in state at the White Funeral Home at Ironton until Tuesday afternoon. The funeral was held at the Caledonia Methodist Church by Rev. Gibbs, pastor of Belleview Methodist, in the absence of the pastor, Rev. J. P. Sweet at 2 o'clock. The body was then returned to the funeral home to await the arrival of her son, Mr. and Mrs. William Maxwell of Waitsburg, Wash., with his daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Short of Pasco, Washington, Curtis Maxwell, Jr. of Fairview. Burial was Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in the family lot in the Methodist Cemetery, A short graveside service was held at this time.
