He was born October 25, 1916 at Hillsdale, New Jersey, a son of Edna Garrison Foss and the late Harold Foss, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Foss, Jr. George was united in marriage to Freda Summers on July 28, 1945 at Rolla, Mo. He was a Master Sergeant, U.S. Army, retired after some 25 years of service to his country. George also was Administrator of the Potosi Housing Authority for several years. He leaves to survive him his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Freda Summers Foss of Potosi; his mother, Edna Garrison Foss of Franklin Lake, New Jersey; two sisters, Gladys (Mrs. Kenneth Jones) of Pearl River, New York and Ethel Foss of Franklin Lake, New Jersey; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends who will sadly miss him. A Memorial Mass was celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, at St. James Catholic Church, Potosi with Father Richard Tillman as Celebrant. Interment was in New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
