    3. I am going to try this one more time & hope I won’t be as hurt & disappointed as I was last time. A couple of years ago I researched & wrote the story of the death of my mother’s first husband, T4 Sgt. Cecil J. Cash, who was brutally murdered/executed by Nazis in WWII. I worked very hard on his story day & night for over a year & it was the most difficult, heartbreaking story I’ve ever written. I shed many tears along the way. Shortly before the anniversary date of Cecil’s death I posted the url of his story on Facebook & hoped that my friends would post an acknowledgement or tribute of some sort on Cecil’s Find-A-Grave memorial page. It wouldn’t have cost any money & would’ve taken only 5 minutes of time. At that time I had over 300 friends on my personal Facebook page & my CarrollsCorner Facebook page. But, to my shock & surprise, only 8 friends out of over 300 cared enough to honor my request. And I so much appreciate the thoughtfulness of those 8 people: Cindy Merx, Paul Hammock, Carl Clayton, Bettye Warner, Bill Jackson, Gene Carroll, Pat Ramsey, & Melanie Rickmar. The other 13 people that signed Cecil’s page were total strangers - & yet they cared more than most of my friends. I was so hurt & upset that I deleted everyone from my friends list. I later began to miss some of my “friends” so I invited some of them back even though I still feel some animosity toward them. I know Cecil wasn’t the only soldier to die in the war – he was one among millions. But he was my mother’s soldier & therefore mine too & I would hope that that would mean something to my friends. Ever since I’ve been on Facebook I’ve always offered moral support, encouragement, etc. to my friends & family & have been there for them whenever possible. Back when I was able I have done volunteer work for this county over the years for the Mine Au Breton Historical Society, the Washington County Library, & Georgian Gardens nursing home. I have posted over 40 years worth of my genealogy research on line free of charge to anyone who wants to view it. I rarely ask anything of people so I thought that making this one small request for this soldier wouldn’t be asking too much. But maybe I was wrong. Anyway, the 70 year anniversary of Cecil’s death is rapidly approaching – 17 December 2014. I am trying one last time to request this small favor from my friends/family to acknowledge Cecil’s death. Since many people used the excuse before that they never saw my posts about him & requesting tributes I will be sending this out several times between now & the anniversary date giving everyone ample time & chances to see it. You can see Cecil’s pictures & read his story at: http://www.carrollscorner.net/CarnageAtTheCrossroads.htm His guest book is at: http://www.carrollscorner.net/Sgt.CashGuestbook.htm His Find-A-Grave Memorial page is at: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Cash&GSfn=Cecil&GSmn=J.&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=26&GScnty=1491&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=20668616&df=all& Thank you very much to anyone/everyone who honors this soldier who gave all so you can enjoy the freedom that many others wish they had. Anyone who is offended by this post or thinks I’m being selfish, outrageous or unreasonable - you are always free to delete me. P.S. – I also appreciate the assistance of two persons on my friends list who provided some information for Cecil’s article: Morgan Warren & Gary Mitchell.
