Survivors include five sons, Robert (wife Frances) Rundel, Old Mines; James (Elaine) Rundel, Festus; Ronald (Brenda) Rundel, Desloge, Gary Rundel, Marthasvile, MO, and Danny (Cindy) Rundel, Kansas; two daughters, Norma Beck, Marthasville, MO, and Renee Duncan, Pevely; five brothers, Thomas Portell and Carl (Catherine) Portell, Old Mines; Joe (Wanda) Portell, Florida; Ronnie (Joyce) Portell, Potosi, and Donald (Judy) Portell, Old Mines; a sister, Karen Portell, Potosi, 31 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loran B. Rundel, a daughter, Betty Williams, a brother, Bill Portell and a sister, Virginia Boyer. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005 from Mahn Twin City Chapel, Festus, with Father Peter Blake officiating. She loved assisting the Fathers, working in the church and being there for all its activities. Lucy's trust and love for her church was always the first lesson she would pass to her family. Lucy loved to take time and play Bingo. She enjoyed sewing for her family. She had a great love for her family and was always excited to h ear from the. She was always willing to cook a meal for a few or the whole gang. Visitation was held at the Moore Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2005 and 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Mondayk, March 28, 2005. Funeral Mass was held at the St. James Catholic Church in Potosi, MIssouri at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2005 with Father George galovich officiating. Music was provided by Chala Short. Final prayers and burial were in the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. He was orchestra director and music teacher at Mr. Vernon Township High School from 1957 to 1981 when he retired. Born December 8, 1922, in St. Louis, he was a son of Isaac Talmadge Smith Sr. and Lou Anna (Longest) Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Henri Anne “Hank” Smith on January 13, 1950, in Pocahontas, Arkansas and she died January 9, 1996. Memorial services were held Wednesday, September 29, 1999 at the Mr. Vernon Memorial Gardens chapel with the Rev. Clark L. Hargus officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a son, Clark T. “Chuck” Smith and wife, Judy of Danville; two grandchildren, Alison and Lindsay Smith of Danville; a sister, Mary F. Anderson and husband Ralph of Granite City. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Mr. Smith was a member of the Mr. Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 31 AF&AM, choir director at the First Baptist Church and the First United Methodist Church, a past president of the Illinois Music Educators Association, a member of the National Education Association, the Illinois Education Association, Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity and American Legion Post 141 of Mr. Vernon. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He enlisted February 5, 1943 and was discharged December 5, 1945. He was a prisoner of war. Mr. Smith graduated from Normandy High School in St. Louis and received a bachelor’s degree from Central Methodist College and a master’s degree from the University of Missouri. John adopted my mother out to his sister, Maggie Dowdall, and I found my mother Elsie and her sister Maggie Doris living with their grandfather on the 1920 Census (Tonny Algar & Mary Ann Baker) Their older sister Violet was living with a McGrager. I don't know where Andy went to live when John W. went to live with his sister Emma & her husband James Garfield Doty in Baxter, Big Flat, AR on the 1920 US Census for AR. She was born at Knob Lick, Missouri on May 8, 1916, a daughter of the late John A. Ervin and Virginia (Canterberry) Ervin. Jewel was first married to Roy Mackley and eight children were born to this union. Roy preceded her in death and she later married Earnest Shelton and he also preceded her in death. Jewel was a resident of Potosi Manor for the past 6 years and finally succumbed to Alzheimer disease. Jewel was a very kind and loving lady. She will be remembered for he warm heart and her caring smile. Her kind spirit and loving heart will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, first and second husbands, she was preceded in death by three sons, Charles, James and Vernon Mackley; one daughter, Sherry Mackley; three sisters, Grace Parrott, Mary Oder and Sadie Williams, and four brothers, Nathan, Dewey, John and Paul Ervin. Among those who remain to mourn her passing from this life are her daughters, Shirley Barton of Abilene, TX and Mary McEntire and husband Gary of Farmington, MO; her sons, Walter Mackley and Melvin Mackley both of Potosi; her twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Britton Chapel in Potosi with Rev. Don Sanders, Jr. and Rev. Kent Sanders officiating. Honoring Jewel as pallbearers were: Gary McEntire, Eddie Mackley, Kent Sanders, Walter (Rowdy) Mackley, Mike Guenther, Leroy Mackley, Walter (Wally) Mackley, Don Sanders, Jr. Junior pallbearers were: Grant Sanders and Kalob Anderson. Final prayers and interment were held at the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi. To the list: I am a new comer to the list and I would like to ask if someone can direct me to the best records where I might find this gentleman below...I believe he is related to me/I am related to him, but I have yet to prove this. I do know my GGGgrandparents, Robert Randall and Elizabeth Whiting Warmack passed through Washington Co., MO in 1850, and a visit to Eli Warmack was included in their passage when going on to TN... Can anyone assist me with what records I should investigate first and to who would one say is a 'gate keeper' of those resources? There he lived for a number of years and then moved to St Louis MO and also lived in other towns in MO. About 1886 he moved to a farm in Shiloh Valley Township where the family lived for many years. He married Mary E Hafley of Gasconade County, MO (Hermann) in 1874. Mary was the daughter of Jacob Haefle and Elizabeth Ogden of Gasconade Co, MO.

Deda enjoyed 58 years, 5 months and 26 days of life. The eyes are the window to the soul..Deda's eyes were the window to his heart and they would melt yours. Deda communicated with people through his eyes - he loved having you sit beside him holding his hand and talking to him. At the age of 18 months, Deda contracted encephalitis, which left him unable to care for himself. Nonetheless, Mom and Daddy made sure Deda lived a very happy and healthy life. Family outings, birthday parties and kids climbing on his bed and riding with him on his wheelchair brought loving smiles and warm glances from Deda. Deda's heartwarming smile, deep brown eyes and sighs were all signs of his comfort around family and friends. He could always make you feel better with his loving smile. Deda enjoyed visits from family and friends, especially his nieces and nephew. The children loved to play with Deda's stuffed animals, toys, and they especially liked rubbing his head to feel his new haircut. Deda was preced in death by his parents, Leo and Gladys Koch and one brother, Kelly Koch. Deda remains in the heart of his surviving siblings; Karl Koch of Old Mines, Sheelagh Koch Binham (husband Steve) of Park Hills, Carman Koch D'Agostino (Harry) of Jacksonville, FL and Janine Koch Neel (Frank) of Hillsboro. His cousin, who is thought of as a sister, Phyllis Adams was a wonderful caregiver for Deda; his nephew, Harry "J.'D." D'Agostino II, nieces, Karla Koch. Rachel Neel, Catherine Kelly D'Agostino and Audrey Neel will have fond memories of their uncle. Close family members with special memories of Deda include step nieces, uncle Bob Branaugh, dear cousin Catherine Polete, aunt Ann and Judy Mosier. He is also survived by aunts, many cousins and friends. Visitation for Deda was held Friday, March 18, 20-05 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass and burial services were held Saturday, March 19, 2005 with Fr. Ted Pieper officiating. Cleo departed this life at her home in Potosi, Missouri on March 16, 2005, having reached the age of seventy-five years, five months and seven days. Cleo was united in marriage on October 19, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri to George Allen Short who preceded his wife in death on March 13, 1999. She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Henderson and husband Hank of Jefferson City, Missouri; son William "Bill" Short and wife Wanda of Potosi, Missouri; one brother, Gus Compton and wife Joyce of Bridgeton, Missouri; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Glen Compton. Cleo enjoyed many things in life like doing all types of crafts, sewing, and she enjoyed staying at home and doing work around the house. Cleo was also very dedicated to taking care of her mother. Visitation was held at the Moore Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 and 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. and Thursday, March 17, 2005. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Moore Memorial Chapel in Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Jeff Richards officiating. He departed this life Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, having reached the age of ninety-four years, one month and ten days. Wes was united in marriage to Charlotte A. Eye in Houston, Missouri on February 25, 1942. He is survived by his wife Charlotte Duncan of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, a son, Dr. Rolin B. Duncan and wife Judy of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren, Aaron Duncan and Meredith Duncan; one great-granddaughter, Piper Duncan. In addition to his parents, Wes was also preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Warren and Leslie "Les" C. Duncan, and one sister, Ora Dunca. Wes enjoyed a very full and exciting life. He loved spending time with his family and always had a smile when all would gather. He enjoyed woodworking, took great pride in flying airplanes, and loved to spend time in the fields with his cattle. He was a self-employed merchant, having owned various retail businesses in the area and was known by everyone. During the Depression Era he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Wes was a fifty year plus member of the Potosi Masonic Lodge #131 A.F. & A.M. Prior to leaving the Potosi area he was a member of the White Oak Grove Baptist Church, Shirley, and continued his faith in the Baptist religion after leaving the area. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2005 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at the Moore Memorial Chapel in Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Wendell Nipper officiating. Burial was in the White Oak Grove Church Cemetery in Potosi, Missouri Route. Arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
