One man killed! And another severelyscalded! Destruction of a Mill!At about three o'clock today a shocking accident occurred at thestream saw mill of Messrs Fea and Turnbull (generally known asCaldwells Mill) resulting in the death of an estimable citizenMr. Thomas [Brown] Fea and severe, although not dangerousinjuries to his son, Mr. Joseph [Smith] Fea. The Mill had beenlying idle for a long time, until about two weeks hence when itwas leased by Messrs Fea and Turnbull, and put in operation.At the hour named the Mill was started after an intermission ofabout an hour in the operation. Mr. Thomas Fea was firing andhis son, Joseph Fea, was running and edger nearby when theboiler exploded with such force as to break and scatter themachinery in every direction. Mr. Thomas Fea received injuries,from scalding and otherwise, which resulted in his death withinan hour or two. His son, Joseph! , was severely scalded on hisarm and hand but not otherwise injured. It is hoped.Mr. Fea was a native of Scotland. We think about fifty years ofage. His honored family have the earnest sympathy of ourCommunity in their sad bereavement.December 8, 1870, The Washington County Journal: IN MEMORIAMMr. Thomas [Brown] Fea, recently killed in the explosion whichoccurred at the stream saw mill of Messrs. Fea & Turnbull, afew miles from Potosi, in this county, was born in Faulkirk,Stirlingshire, Scotland on the 18th of June 1815. He emigratedto this country in the year 1853 and settled in St. Louis;subsequently to moving to the county, where he has filled thevarious offices of an affectionate and devoted head to hisfamily, a generous, industrious and esteemed citizen. He died on the evening of the 24th of November 1870, within a short timeafter the occurrence of the terrible accident to which he fell victim. On the day following his death, his remains weredeposited in the ! Presbyterian Church Yard at Potosi. Mr. Fealeft a bereaved widow [Ann Liddle] and nine [then alive oftheir eleven] affectionate and sorrowing children to mourntheir loss. and finally: CATHERINE FEA TURNBULLThe Newport Miner, June 1919: At her home in this city [Newport,Washington] Monday evening occurred the death of Mrs. CatherineTurnbull. She had been in poor health for several years.Catherine Fea was a native of Scotland. She came to this countrywith her parents when eleven years old and on Sept. 29th, 1859,was married to William [Grant] Turnbull at St. Louis, Missouri.To them eleven children were born, of whom one died in infancyand ten survive her. Of the children, Wm. F. has made his homewith his mother, Grant also resides in Newport and Mrs. Jas.Stewart at Usk. The others are Chilton B. and Jewel ofFairfield, Montana; Mrs. Thompson of Marshfield, Oregon; Mrs.Merritt of Granite City, Ill; and three sons, Jas. J., Robt. A.and Thomas W. of Potosi, [Washington county] Missouri. Asister, Mrs. J. C. Scott resides in Newport. Mr. Turnbull died26 years ago.Mrs. Turnbull reached the age of 80 years. Since 1901 sheresided in Newport, and was known! and beloved by many of ourpeople as "Aunt Kate." She was a good mother, one of thosehome-loving women whose every thought is of devotion andsacrifice for her own.Funeral services were held at Congregational Church Thursdaymorning, conducted by Rev. Jas. N. Pendleton. Interment was inthe I. O. O. F. cemetery beside her mother [Ann Liddle Fea] whodied ten years ago. Card of Thanks - We wish to extend our sincere Thanks to friendsfor their deeds of kindness and sympathy shown us during thesickness and at the death of our beloved mother and sister. -The Turnbull Family Catherine Fea Turnbull's daughter Anna (b.1874) married an Isgrigg first and Robert Merritt second (February 11, 1897) . He was a soldier in God's Army. He loved the Lord very much. He touched everyone that he met. In addition to his father, Braden was preceded in death by his step-grandfather Grant Brewer of Bonne Terre, Missouri. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his mother and stepfather, Cheryl and Terry Stewart of Mineral Point; one brother, Tyson Chavedo of Moore, Oklahoma; three sisters, Sheena Chavedo of Mineral Point; Ashley Humble of Steelville and Elizabeth Stewart of Potosi; grandparents, Bill and Betty Hodge of Salem; Roy and Karen Chavedo of Hooker, Oklahoma and Ralph and Shan McGowen of New Mexico and step-grandmother, Dorothy Brewer of Bonne Terre; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Independent Journal, Potosi, MO, Thursday, July 28, 2005 On page 1B of the Independent Journal, July 28, 2005 The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that a double fatality occurred Thursday evening, July 14, 2005 8:35 p.m. near Salem. Kenneth Johnson, 18, of Salem was the driver of the westbound 2000 Chevrolet Camaro. The vehicle accident report said the car went off the right edge of the roadway, struck a driveway culvert, became airborne and overturned. Passengers in the vehicle were Dustin Major, 15, and Travis Myers, 14, both of Salem and Braden Humble, 16, of Mineral Point. The driver sustained serious injuries. He was transported by Air Evac helicopter to St. John's Hospital, Springfield, MO. Also injured was Major, who sustained serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital Columbia by Life Flight helicopter ambulance. Passengers in the back seat were Humble and Myers. They were reported declared dead at the scene by Coroner Eddie Wilson. The Highway Patrol report said the vehicle was a total loss. Johnson and Major were wearing seat belts and Humble and Myers were not, according to the Patrol report. Humble was a student at Potosi High School

She was a member of Hope United Church of Christ, DeSoto, where she was a Sunday School teacher. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2005 from Dietrich-Motherhead Chapel, DeSoto, with Rev. Bryan Crousore officiating. Burial was in Ebeneezer Hope UCC Cemetery, DeSoto. Glore of Potosi, Missouri, departed this life Friday, July 2, 2005 at the Georgian Gardens Nursing Center, Potosi, Missouri at the age of one hundred and two years and seventeen days. Lisborn was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri on July 5, 1903, a son of the late Robert Crawford and Mary Louise (Politte) Glore. Lisborn was united in marriage to Norine Berniece Goodnight and they were blessed to have six children born to the union. Norine preceded her husband in death on December 7, 1982 at the age of seventy-five years. Lisborn is survived by his loving and devoted children. Three daughters; Betty Becker of St. Louis; Glenda Adams of Dixon, Missouri and Mary Root and husband Edwin of Madison, Wisconsin; two sons, Larry Glore and wife Ruth of Potosi, and Perry Glore and wife Mary of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; Steve, Jeff, Judy, Vickie, Sherri, Eddie and Jody; two step-grandchildren; Kevin and Greg; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and by many other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Lisborn was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Glore; a daughter-in-law, Lorene Glore; sons-in-law, Raymond Becker and Albert Adams; three sisters; Irene, Eileen, Marie, and six brothers, Charlie, Ben, Wilford, Tom, Lawrence and Leslie Glore. Prior to his retirement in the early 60's, Lisborn was employed by the St. Joe Lead Co.Indian Creek Mining Company, and then continued working as a gentleman farmer on his property. Lisborn enjoyed baseball and working in his garden raising vegetables. He loved spending time in the out of doors hunting, fishing or just admiring the area. He would relax reading or working a word seek puzzle. Lisborn always took time out of his day to tune the radio to "Swap Shop" where he would listen or call in to buy, sell or trade trucks and tractors. Lisborn was a remarkable person, not only for his longevity, but for the intensity and clarity of focus with which he lived his life. He had a great love for his family and his heart warmed and his eyes twinkled when the kids would come around. He will always be remembered for the love he shared. Visitation was held Sunday, July 24, 2005 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Monday, July 25, 2005 from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Funeral services were held Monday, July 25, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Mike Jarvis officiating. Music was provided by Deidra and Ray Glore. Honoring their grandfather, the grandchidlren, Judy Pearson, Steve Adams, Vickie Glore, Jeff Adams, Sherri Foster, Eddie Root and Jody Glore served as pallbearers. Final prayers and burial were held at the Redbud Memorial Garden, Hwy.8 West, Potosi, Missouri. Angie, as she was known to everyone who knew and loved this precious girl, was full of life. She was a pleasure to be around. She worked as a dental assistant and was President of the Women of Outdoors organization. She was a beloved daughter, dear sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. The sunshine she brought to many lives will be sadly missed. Angie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Layman and Maggie Kramer and Norma Owen.
