There's the Cole Cem in Mineral Point and the Cole/Essmeyer Cem. that's off of F Hwy. The Cole/Essmeyer Cem is the one I'm interested in. I have a record from the library as to who is buried in this one and I'm sure there's a record of the one in Mineral Point. I was needing to find out about how much land is with the one off of F Hwy and if anyone could be buried there. There could be a Cole Cem near Blackwell, but I've never heard of it. Who are you looking for?

Some of my other family sites aren't nearly as friendly. My email is baddt1999@yahoo.com. Happy to here from you. 3. Back in early April I sent the following question to this list; "Hello, I hope I don't step on any toes or cause any friction [is not my intent] for asking the following... Would someone please tell me about how long it takes to get a response from OMAHS? I sent money for research Jan 1,2005 and have yet to hear anything...Does it normally take this long?" The above question was forward to C. Myers of OMAHS. As mentioned in my above question, I paid for research...[2 surnames Trudeau being one]. I received a reply from C. Myers with many reasons why I hadn't heard from her and that she hoped to get to my surnames that weekend..[early April].. The following week she emailed me info on Trudeau....Here it is September and I've yet to hear from her on the other surname. Sent her an email the other day...[no reply..no surprise]... I'm no longer interested in a reply from omahs or anyone connected with them as I've been more than patient on this and will do my researching elsewhere . My main reason for writing this.... "I paid for something and didn't get it"... Not very prof! D.M. Houston,Tx

    1. Grave Witching
    2. Esther M. Ziock Carroll
    3. Has anyone ever tried grave witching? Does it really work??? I read somewhere that not just anyone can do it. It can only be done by someone who has the "power". Grave Witching The Daily Journal, St. Francois County, Missouri 2 May 1995 Stanbery, Mo. (AP) - Bent metal tools in hand, the Rev. Ben Rainey and funeral director Karl Ross walk through High Ridge Cemetery in this northwest Missouri town, locating unmarked graves by the mysterious process of grave witching. Carrying the clipped hangers and legs from a flower stand as diving roda used for water witching, they chuckle like schoolchildren each time the instruments move together and cross. That means they're standing on a grave. Coming to an area with no headstone, Rainey's rods cross anyway. "Someone's buried here," Rainey sid as emphatically as if the corpse had stood up and said hello. "It's strange, you better believe it's strange," marveled Rainey, 60, himself a funeral director at the Johnston Funeral Home in Albany. Ross, 34, runs the Johnson facility in Stanberry. "I have no explanation for it," Ross said, offering one just the same. "Maybe it's some sort of energy field put off by the body," he surmised. "I don't know. I might be off in left field." A Baptist minister, Rainey looks to the Bible for a possible answer. Perhaps the breath of life discussed in the Bible is what moves these unconventional tools, he says. Other than astonishing non-believers, these magic wands can have a practical use, which could be good news for the St. Joseph State Hospital. Ross has volunteered his services to help the hospital with its cemetery reclamation project. He says he can help staff find graves. Hospital workers have been clearing away brush and trees, which for decades obscured about 200 of the old cemetery's roughly 1,350 plots. Some of the numbered grave stones in the cleared area still around but lots are nowhere to be found. For instance, stone No. 1 hasn't been found, and George Glore, the hospital's spkesman, says Ross could be helpful in finding it. "It's a little like looking for a needle in a haystack." Ross confessed. Before giving Ross the go-ahead, Glore wants to discuss the matter with hospital superintendent Don Dittemore, who he's fairly certain will approve. After all, Glore said, "Even if it didn't work, it would be interesting to watch." As a member of the hospital's advisory board, Rainey may be able to give the idea a push. To Ross and Rainey, the witching sticks are much better instruments than the more conventional tool - a 5 to 6 foot-long probe that's stuck into the ground. For one, Ross says, the probe can be disrespectful to the dead, tearing up a deceased's final resting place. Witching also allows he surveyor to determine the measurements of the grave, he says. That way the searcher can determine if the deceased is an adult or child. Furthermore, determining the dimensions of the grave is important when preparing to dig another one in the vicinity, Ross says. Ross admits he was skeptical when his boss, Ross E. Johnson Sr., taught him grave witching about a year ago.

    3. I can't remember if I ever sent through the list or not. If I haven't here it is - if I have here it is again. lol ANCIENT GRAVES UNEARTHED BY WORKERS Independent Journal - Nov. 23, 1925 - Washington County, Mo. Alex Cordia, foreman of the group excavating for Potosi's sewerage system, reports that as the men were cutting the ditch from Hwy. 8 through the A.H. Long property to Breton Street the excavation ran into four shallow graves situated just outside the cemetery fence. Mr. Cordia said the graves were evidently of ancient construction as there was no evidence of any coffins. No nails buttons or other indications of burial equipment. The graves, Mr. Cordia stated were not more than three feet deep and about 20 inches wide. They had a scooped out appearance, the bones resting on the loose porous rock of the shallow bottoms. The bones were carefully collected and placed in boxes and re-interred in the same excavations from which they were removed. The graves were in a straight line but outside the cemetery inclosure, leading the men to conclude that at some former time the fence had been set in, or that the graves had been placed outside. They were made either before the times of coffins or hastily interred without benefit of coffin; however the entire absence of any foreign material led Mr. Cordia to conclude that the graves were made in the times of winding sheets.
