Thanks to everyone for their nice letters about my fall in the Hampton Cemetery. Glad everyone enjoyed my stories. I'm feeling much better but don't intend to do anymore cemetery photographing this year. However, next summer I'll be back at it again. Maybe I should invest in a good padded football uniform. lol

James Kinkead's tragic death in the James Streinbrecher family tree posted on RootsWeb: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=steinie&id=I0362 James Kinkead's wife, Susannah Hughes, is my 2nd great grand-aunt. Susannah's parents, Captain John Hughes & Susannah Hays/Hayes, were born in Virginia and in 1806 migrated to the area that would later become southeastern Missouri. This was only three years after the land was obtained from France as part of the Louisiana Purchase. In the War of 1812 Captain John Hughes led a company of mounted riflemen, which he organized in New Madrid. When the war broke out, the Missouri area was still part of Upper Louisiana Territory. Later in 1812 it would be named Missouri Territory, with statehood following in 1821. The James Kinkead story is tragic yet interesting, and I would appreciate any details that anyone could offer. Warmest Regards, Donna

man this genealogy phhotography stuff can be dangerous! I took a fall this afternoon while leaving the Hampton Cemetery in Elvins. There was one concrete step that went down to the sidewalk. I caught the front of my shoe on something at the edge of the step & down I went - smack - onto the sidewalk. It knocked my glasses half off of my face & my hat all the way off of my head. Scuffed up the palms of both hands & scrapped the skin off of the side of my right hand on my knuckle. But the most painful was my right knee. Even though I had slacks on it still took a portion of skin off of my knee cap. OUCH!!!! Well Big Willie picked me up off of the sidewalk & I was able to walk so there was nothing broken. Came home & Big Willie still remembered his first aid training from his fireman years & got me bandaged up. Nothing hurts any more except my knee when I bend it. So I'm kind of walking stiff legged. Makes me think of Chester in the old Gun Smoke series. Instead of Esther I'm Ch! ester. lol This isn't the first fall I've taken at/near a cemetery. Some years ago we had to wade across Mill Creek to get to a cemetery. My cousin was with us & he decided he was going to carry me across the creek. Well, he wasn't much bigger than I was & despite my objections he scooped me up & proceeded to cross the creek. He began wobbling & yep, you guess it........splash! Another time I was taking some pictures in Ironton. It was fall & there was a thick cover of leaves all over the ground. When I got out of the truck I took one step & down I went. Seems I stepped into a pot hole that was hidden with leaves. Another time at a cemetery out Hwy. 8 west I tripped over a fallen tombstone that was covered with leaves. Did some fancy dancing & managed to get my balance back so never hit the ground with that one. anyway going to old cemeteries & photographing tombstones is my favorite part of genealogy research believe it or not. lol I know it sounds wierd to most people but not to other genealogists. lol
