Survivors include his wife, Magdalen (nee Coleman) Portell; two children, Mrs. James (Jerry) Vaughn, Knoxville, Tenn. and Phillip (Beans) Portell, Festus; five brothers and sisters, Sam Portell, Old Mines, Mo., Tiamon Portell and Frances Pidgett, both of St. Louis, Dora Vonderahe and Cora Reando, both of Old Mines, Mo.; six grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Kimberly and Danny Portell and David and Jason Vaughn. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Vinyard's Funeral Home, Festus. Services were held, Friday at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mazel moved married Earl Conell and moved to St. Louis around the late 1920's (?). If you have any information on the Ramo family please contact me.

Henry departed this life on April 13, 2005 at the North Memorial Hospital, Robbinsdale, Minnesota at the age of Fifty-eight years, Four months and Twenty-three days. Henry was united in marriage to Regina Shatley on June 8, 1968 in Potosi, Missouri. They were blessed to have one daughter born to the union. Henry is survived by his loving and devoted wife Regina Burghard of Maple Grove, Minnesota; daughter, Elizabeth Wilson and husband Robert of Buffalo, Wyoming; brother, Floyd Burghard and wife Karen of Maple Grove, Minnesota; nieces, Karolyn Burghard of Eden Praire, Minnesota, Karmen Nicklaus of Prior Lake, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Barbara Hagan and husband Dave and children David, Julie and Sean of Jefferson City, Missouri; parents-in-law, Paul and Ruby Shatley of Jefferson City, Missouri. Henry served this country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from 1966 to 1968. He was Honorably Discharged for his faithful and dedicated service. Henry was a graduate of the University of Missouri and a member of the University of Missouri Alumni. Henry had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time looking at the many gifts of mother nature. He enjoyed playing golf and shooting pool. He held dear to his heart his dogs, they knew him as well as he knew them. His love for the outdoors also extended to his love for people, he was always looking and seeking the needs of others and would work hard to assist them in any way he could. He was blessed with a gift to care for and touch everyone around him, with his generosity, his warm and caring heart, humor and his zest for life. A Memorial Visitation was held Saturday, April 16, 2005 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. A Memorial Funeral Service was held Sunday, April 17, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the Potosi Presbyterian Church, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Howard Gleason officiating. Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.

He was born at Palmer, Missouri May 24, 1935, a son of the late Ira and Bertha (Blair) Turnbough. He was united in marriage to Shirley Jarvis February 20, 1961 at Potosi, Missouri and to that union three children were born. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1964. He retired from the Doe Run Company after 27 years of service - working as a warehouse clerk, accounting clerk, inventory supervisor and ombudsman. He was an auctioneer for 30 years with his partner and long time friend, Burnham D. Richards. He serviced many auctions thoroughout Washington and adjoining counties. He owned and operated his own cattle farm for the last 40 years and he took great pride in raising his cattle. He liked to fish and hunt, but being with his family brought him the most pleasure. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was always ready and wiling to lend a helping hand to his family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Avondel accepted Christ as his Savior early in life and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. During the years before developing Parkinson's Disease he was very active in the Potosi Lions Club and the Washington County Saddle Club. He served as President of Washington County Farm Bureau for several years, and he served on the Washington County Extension Board. In addition to his parents Ira and Bertha Turnbough, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Russell Jarvis, mother-in-law, Blanche Jarvis and a sister, Shirley Sherman. I don't have a lot to go on, but she married my ggf, Melvin Hill in Washington county 1916. My grandmother, Geneva (Hill) DeClue was their only child, and family word was that once Delilah passed away, Grandma went to live with her grandparents (presumably Jasper W. and Ellen (Shipley) Huskey, since my grandmother appears in the 1930 census living with them. I can't find anything specific other than the marriage listing for Delilah. Any help appreciated greatly. John

Jean loved her family and all the time she got to spend with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the many gifts of Mother Nature, spending time fishing, hunting, searching for mushrooms and gardening. She also enjoyed attending the Belgrade First Church of God and singing gospel songs. She loved to cook all types of different recipes, especially her famous desserts. Jean enjoyed the extensive traveling she was able to do with her husband Noel, the rest of her family and her many friends. Collecting angels also brought her great enjoyment. Jean was a very kind and loving woman who will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. Visitation was held Saturday, April 8, 2006 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.; and Sunday, April 9, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor Myron Laramore and Pastor Davey Welker officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Craig Weeks, Chris Halbert, Gavin Halbert, Roger Dudley, Billy Johnston and Larry Nipper. Honorary pallbearers were: Jim Nipper, Mitch Tedder and Don Gillam. Music for the services was provided by her cousins, Miriam, Shirley, Phyllis and fellow church singing friend, Corky Davis and also Don and June Dickinson. Final prayers and burial were in the Jenkins Cemetery, Belgrade, Missouri. Services were entrusted to the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri. Frank was born in January 1945 to Clarence and Laurine Jolly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Leonard and Charlie Jolly and two sisters, Irene Jolly Dorsey and Louise Jolly. Frank was united in marriage to Nola Harrow for forty-one years and they were blessed with one son, Warren Jolly, of Austin, Texas. Those who remain to mourn his passing include his wife, Nola of Austin, Texas; one son, Warren of Texas; five siblings, Joe Jolly and wife Dee of Potosi; Mike Jolly of Potosi; Margaret Jolly of Potosi; Cindy Jolly and friend Art Holmes of Austin, Texas and Anna Lee and husband Herman Lee of St. John, MO and many nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. Frank wanted everyone to know that he lived, laughed and loved. There will be a Memorial Service held Saturday, May 27 at the V.F.W. Hall, Potosi. He was born January 8, 1940 at Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late Dea Albert and Martha (Harris) Mosier. January 14, 1961, Leon was united in marriage to Brenda Whitten at Yuma, Arizona. They shared over 45 years of marriage together. Leon was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was the founder of the Potosi Pentecostal Church where he was Pastor for 16 years and pastored the Richwoods Church prior to that. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Dick Gregory; two brothers, David Mosier and Ralph Mosier; two step-sisters, Edith and Norma and four step-brothers, Jessie, Donald, Reese and William Gregory, Jr. Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife, Brenda Mosier, Mineral Point; three sons, Dale Mosier and wife Megan of Park Hills; Wayne Mosier and wife Margaret of Bismarck and Duce Mosier and wife Karen of Joplin; a daughter, Vickie Miller and husband Johnny of Bismarck; a brother, Harold Mosier and wife Rosie of O'Fallon, Illinois; two sisters, Bernice Bilyeu and husband Larry of Collinsville, IL, and Cleo Dillinger of Lebanon, IL; step-sister, Velma Butcher, Collinsville, IL; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. He was born February 22, 1915 at Bismarck, Missouri, a son of the late George and Mary Louise (Harp) Rook. He was united in marriage to Bertha Vandergriff March 29, 1938 at Potosi, Missouri and to that union eight children were born. Bertha preceded him in death on April 30, 2002. Anson was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Anson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Milchem in 1980. Anson was saved and baptized and he served the Lord. One of his proudest days was the birth of his great-great-grandson, which produced the fifth generation of his family. In addition to his parents and wife, Anson was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy West; a granddaughter, Milisse Moses; four brother, Frank, Charlie, Earl and Henry Rook; two sisters, Audrey Henson and Effie Turnbough and one son-in-law, Stanley Skaggs. Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include five daughters, Sandra Tedder and husband Mitch of Belgrade; Lola Skaggs of Potosi, Edna Moses and husband Bill of Potosi; Margaret Dunn and husband Benny of Potosi and Linda Gay and husband Greg of Potosi; three sons, George Rook and wife Sandra of Mineral Point; Glen Rook and wife Rita of Cadet and Gary Rook and wife Roxann of Mineral Point; a sister, Annie Vandergriff of Mineral Point; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; one great, great grandson; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. She was born April 15, 1921, in Potosi, MO, the daughter of the late Alonzo S. and Maude Essie (Cresswell) Higginbotham. She and George Loyd Weltch were married on September 14, 1946 in Farmington, Missouri. George was a veteran of World War II and died December 12, 1985. Mrs. Weltch taught 3 years in Washington County at Cruise School, 5 years in Potosi Schools and 32 years at Franklin School in Cape Girardeau. She had a B.S. degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University and a Masters of Education degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia. In 1975 she was listed in "Who's Who in Missouri Education." She was a life member of Missouri Sate Teacher's Association, AARP, and the Missouri Retired Teacher's Association. She changed her membership from Soule's Chapel Methodist Church near Potosi to Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau on March 22, 1953. She is survived by a son, Bruce L. Weltch and wife, Sunghi of Newark, Delaware; a niece, Linda Schaller and husband Tim of San Francisco, California; and a great niece, Loren Schaller of San Francisco, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother Howard Cresswell Higginbotham, who died June 19, 2003. Visitation was at Ford & Sons, Mt. Auburn Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Grace United Methodist Church Thursday, April 6, 2006 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Funeral services were held at Grace United Methodist Church Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Scott Moon officiating. Burial was at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, MO.
