She was the daughter of the late Hassel (Shaver) and Delbert Johnson. Amy departed this life on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus, Missouri having reached the age of sixty-five years, five months and twenty-four days. Amy was united in marriage to Paul E. Peppers, Sr. On May 23, 1961 in DeSoto, Missouri. Amy is survived by her daughter, Pamela May Blankmann of Potosi, Missouri, three step-daughters, Marsha Peppers, Patty Peppers, Brenda Brewer, son, Paul E. Peppers, Jr. of DeSoto, Missouri, step-son, James E. Peppers, five sisters, Pat Henson and husband Fred of House Springs, Missouri, Carrol Moran of Festus, Missouri, Fern Austin and husband Douglas of St. Louis, Missouri, Janice Newcomb and husband Stephen of St. Louis, Missouri, Brenda Poole of St. Louis, Missouri, brother, Garry Johnson and wife Sharon of Mayfield, Kentucky, and five grandchildren. Amy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Hassel and Delbert Johnson, husband, Paul E. Peppers, Sr. on January 30, 2005, daughter, Hassey Rennee Peppers, sister, Janie Swader, brother, and Jack Johnson. Amy loved to work in her yard growing flowers, plants and enjoyed the beauty of Mother Nature. She also enjoyed shopping, especially at her favorite store, Wal-Mart. Amy was a remarkable person not only for her longevity but for the intensity and clarity of focus with which she lived her life. She will always be remembered for the love she shared. Visitation was held Tuesday, June 13, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, June 14, 2006 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Lane is survived by his mother and father, Martha and Lloyd Vitt of Potosi, Missouri; four sisters, Lisa Sharpe of Festus, Missouri, Lori Schulte of Wichita, Kansas, Lynn Truax and husband Robert of Dittmer, Missouri, Leigh Roland of Hillsboro, Missouri; grandfather, Arthur O’Brien of Union, Missouri; aunt, Barbara and husband, Lester Van Leer of Beaufort, Missouri; uncle, Keith O’Brien of Union, Missouri; five nieces, five nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Lane loved fishing as a small child and throughout his life. He also enjoyed his many hunting trips especially with his mother and dad. A favorite pastime of Lane’s was flint napping, which is making arrowheads and knives. He enjoyed playing his fiddle and listening to different types of music. Lane spent time working on his computer, playing games and communicating with his friends. He could spend hours watching the Discovery Channel and hunting shows on television. Lane loved to spend time with his family, especially when he got to play video games with his nephews. Visitation was held Monday, June 12, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, June 13, 2006 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri. A funeral service was held Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Jerry Compton officiating. Burial took place in the St. Peter’s Cemetery, Washington, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Keith O’Brien, Robert Traux, Darryl Suhr, Zachary Suhr, Nicholas Suhr and Elijah Suhr. She was united in marriage on December 10, 1939 in Shirley, Missouri to Raymond Wilford Slowensky. One son was born to this union. They enjoyed sixty years together before Raymond's death on October 16, 2000. On July 26, 2005 their only son, Raymond William "Bill" Slowensky passed away. Among those who remain are her daughter-in-law Jean Slowensky of Steelville; a grandson, John and wife Molly Slowensky of St. James; a great-granddaughter Riley Slowensky and many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Kermit, Claude, Leo, Frank, Clifton, Floyd and Walter Manion and two sisters, Fern Perkins and Norma Faye Fronk. Mavis will be remembered for her love of the family farm, which the whole Slowensky family received recognition as a Missouri Century Farm by the College of Agriculture at the University of Missouri. Mavis loved gardening, cooking, canning and time for her family. She was a member of the Huzzah Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School and had been the song leader. Services were held Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at the Britton-Bennett Chapel with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Special music of "Just A Closer Walk" and "I Come To The Garden" were sung by Bro. Mike Cooper. Serving as casketbearers were David Stroud, Steven Pulley, Carl Brandt, John Perkins, Scott Manion and Joe Stein with burial and committal prayers in the Steelville Cemetery. Memorials were suggested to the Huzzah Baptist Church. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville. He had reached the age of 27 years and 6 days. He was born on May 23, 1979 in Farmington, Missouri, a son of Jim and Debra (Barbee) Porter. Scott was known for his humor, his love of family, and his willingness to help others. He began as a volunteer Junior Fireman with the Irondale Fire Department at the age of 14, and continued serving the department throughout his life. As the Assistant Chief, Scott wrote a grant to get the department a new $100,000 fire truck. Scott also served the community as an EMT with the Washington County Ambulance District, a volunteer fireman on several local departments, and a dispatcher for both Washington County and St. Francois County 911 centers. Scott continued saving lives even after his death, with the donation of his organs. On May 22, 2004, Scott was united in marriage to his true love, Brandi Renee Akins. He loved spending time with Brandi’s sister, 4 year old Brianna, and hoped to one day have children of his own. Scott and Brandi found out, just weeks ago, that dream would come true with the birth of their first child, Addyson, who will arrive in January. Scott was a loving husband, son and brother. He would have been a wonderful father. From a young child Scott filled the house with love and laughter and continued to do so as he grew into a man. Those who remain to mourn the passing of his young life include his wife, Brandi Porter; his unborn child, Addyson Porter; his parents, Jim and Debra Porter of Irondale; his maternal grandparents, Howard and Marlene Barbee of Irondale; his paternal grandmother, Lorene Porter of Leadwood; his brother, Jeremy Porter of Irondale; his sister, Lindsay Porter of Irondale; his mother-in-law, Rhonda Canter and husband Dan of Webb City, MO; his father-in-law, Randall Akins and wife Debbie of Potosi; aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many other relatives, friends and co-workers who will sadly miss this young man who gave so much and took so little. Funeral services were conducted at 2PM on June 1, 2006 at Irondale First Baptist Church, with Rev. Bruce Torrence, Rev. Art Gormley and Rev. Ronald Marler officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jesse Barton, Chad Forshee, Josh Gormley, Mike Doty, Alex Shibley, Aaron Beck, Eric Ludwig and Brian Eaton. Interment and final prayers were held at Big River Cemetery. Services were entrusted to the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
