It has been a few years since I was there, but when I went, I did the searching, found the deeds, marriage records etc, and then they copied them for me. I believe the cost them was 15 or 25 cents. Hope this helps. Ann Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'd recommend going to the courthouse. They have a large index from around 1821 - 1870. You can look up the names that you want & it will tell you which deed book to look in. After 1870 you will have to look in different index books. The last time I was there (a few months ago) I was charged $1.00 per copy. No cameras or tape recorders are allowed. But you can copy, by hand, excerpts from the deeds as you are allowed to take in a tablet & pen. If you have any questions or help with anything just ask the ladies in the office - they are very nice. Esther M. I was thinking about putting a picture of my dad and his uncle on Ancient Faces who were mining tiff, so put in "tiff mining" in the search box and a picture came up of Lawrence Corda. I just wondered if the last name should be Cordia. Description of the picture says: Lawrence Corda, tiff miner, has beef cattle, hogs, a mule, and chickens. He raises most of his own food and feed when he is not mining tiff. Washington County, Missouri" Date created: 1939 Nov _http://www.ancientfaces.com/research/photo/738142_ (http://www.ancientfaces.com/research/photo/738142) There is another picture of Washington County, no names mentioned, created in 1939 also. _http://www.ancientfaces.com/research/photo/738173_ (http://www.ancientfaces.com/research/photo/738173) Perhaps you might recognize the people in the picture.
