I was given an address in El Dorado Springs to send for the hospital records for my gggrandfather, Thomas P. Moore, who died April, 1916 at State Hospital #3 in Nevada, Vernon Co., Missouri and received a reply stating that records could not be released without a court order. Is that the common practice for all hospital records - no matter how old they are? Anyone know how to acquire those records without a court order? I really think he was there because his family could not afford any other hospitalization - he was only a patient for 10 days. He had been living in Oklahoma and was on a visit to his daughters in Joplin and in El Dorado Springs when he fell ill. Thanks for the information about the hospital - I suppose it would have been too costly to keep but it seems quite a shame it was torn down. And I went thru Nevada in Oct. 1998 but at that time didn't have the information I have now about Thos. P. passing away at that hospital. Cindy
