Lyndon, I'm not sure what controversy you refer to, but I remember reading somewhere that the graves in the hospital cemetery were not recorded in the "Cemetery Directory of Vernon County, Missouri" because the residents (patients) were not considered to be part of the community. I believe this may have been stated in the preface to the book itself, but it's been several months and I've slept a few times since seeing it. Kind of sad. My greatgrandmother lived a good portion of her life in the Hume area and died in #2 in St. Joe. As best I could tell from her hospital records, she was committed because she had epilepsy and some sort of cognitive or "nervous" disorder. Jackie Springfield, MO
