    3. Cindy, I am certainly not a State Hospital expert, but I think your observation is correct - that many people were put in the State Hospital for many reasons. I think that some were just "slow" or "odd" who ended up in #3. Even in the 1960's I remember going to #3 to judge dairy cattle - they had an outstanding hered. Patients who were walking around were sometimes "strange", but maybe they were medicated - I don't know. I think that some of the folks that we see on the streets today that we might consider "strange" would have been in #3 in former years. Please excuse my use of these terms if they are not politically correct, but I can't think of better terms. I suppose that these terms are better than the terms insane and lunatic that were widely used in earlier days. I have quite a lot of early Post Cards of #3 and it amazes me that people would have sent a post card from there! It demonstrates a different attitude about the Insane Asylum I suppose. I recall reading about the State Hospital cemetery. Maybe someone can address the controversy about it? Lyndon
