Hello, Everybody, I am new to the Vernon County, Missouri rootsweb group. I have just found my great-great-grandparents Simeon H McGehee and Susanna Jane McCargo in the 1880 Census of Vernon County, MO, Walker township, in the newly released CD-Rom records of the Mormon Church: S. H. McGehee, self, male, married, white, 60, born VA, parents born VA VA, bar tender Susan McGehee, wife, female, married, white, 59, b. VA, parents b. VA VA Hester McGehee, dau, female, single, white, 19, b. TN, parents b. VA VA Geo. McGehee, son, male, single, white, 16, b. TN, parents b. VA VA J. M. Haws, other, male, married, white, 37, b. VA, parents b. VA VA Simeon H McGehee and Susan are found in the 1870 Census of Kentucky, Graves Co., Cuba District. They are also found in the 1860 Census of Tennessee, Henry Co., 5th District. They are in the 1850 Census of Tennessee, Henry Co., 12th District. There is a marriage bond in Halifax Co. VA, dated 03 May 1841, Book 1, Page 168, between Simeon H. McGehee and Susanna Jane McCargo, daughter of Little John McCargo. In Charlotte Co. VA, there is a marriage bond, dated 29 Oct 1806 between Little John McCargo and Elizabeth Williams Callicot. I am a descendant of Emily Taylor McGehee, daughter of Simeon H. McGehee and Susanna Jane McCargo. Emily McGehee married James C Brann in Weakley Co. TN, 05 Nov 1857. Are any of you researching this family? I have quite a bit of earlier information on this family, but I do NOT know what happened to them when they moved to KY (found in 1870 KY Census) and on to Vernon Co. MO (found in 1880 MO Census).
