Does anyone have access to old newspapers of the Vernon County area? My gggrandfather was in the county for a number of years prior to 1858 when he married Virginia C. Morris. He disappears with the 1860 census and leaves Virginia living at home with her mom and dad and with a son also named Jesse A. Lowe. I'm just speculating, but with all conflict in that area prior to the Civil War, could he have been a victim? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Doreen Lowe Shewmaker Texas
