Seeking additional information on William H Blanton b 1831 TN d May 1872 Vernon Co., MO. He came to Vernon County in the 1850’s where he practiced law, served as coroner in 1859 and was elected to represent the county in 1858. In 1859 he married Martha Jane Harbin, a daughter of A S Harbin who represented Barry County, MO in the state legislature. In 1860, W H and Martha Jane Blanton were living next door to Alfred S Harbin in Barry County. In 1862, A S Harbin and several other families removed to Travis Co. Texas. In 1867, W H Blanton was back in Barry County to settle the affairs of A S Harbin who died in Texas. One more child was born in Texas before W H & Martha returned to Vernon County where he may have been in partnership with Eliah Hausbrough. In 1872 when W H Blanton died, Martha Jane Blanton made petition to sell part of the land, 700 acres in Vernon and Wright counties and for a widow’s dower. It appears, per the 1876 secional map, that she retained 60 acres in section 8, southwest of Neveda and 320 acres in section 24, T 35, Rng 30. One of the acreages sold was the SE 1/4 of section, south of Neveda, except for 10 acres in the NW corner of the quarter section where Deepwood Cemetery is located. Can anyone HELP with: 1. Is William H Blanton buried at Deepwood Cemetery? Or any of the Blantons. 2. Was Martha Jane Blanton and her family in Vernon County for the 1880 census? Thanks, Bill Landers Cape Cod, MA
