I have heard a family story that my husband's gggrandfather was mayor of Harwood Missouri and that he was killed by the Wabash Cannonball. His name was Joseph Stanley Thalman (found in the "History of Vernon County" as Tahlman) he was born 1832 or 1838 depending on the sorce and he died October 19, 1916 and wasn't buried until October 30, 1916. He was struck and killed by a train (I have a death cert.) Does anyone know how I can go about finding out about his being mayor or if it really was the Wabash Cannonball? Thanks, Annie
