I am looking for Ridgways from Vernon County. James R. Ridgway who was born in 1829 and his wife Elizabeth Oldridge are buried in Miller Cemetery. If anyone should know who their parents are, I would appreciate the information. My grandfather, Clarence Julius Ridgway was born in Deerfield. His first wife Millie Mary Margaret Finey died young and left him with a small child to raise. James R. and Elizabeth were his grandparents. His parents were Willie and Sylvania Bradshaw Ridgway. Thomas Newton Stueart was born 1861 and died 1932. He married Hattie A Gray, daughter of A Gary and Elzira ?. She was bron 1865 and died 1950. They had only one child Oma Alonza Stueart who married Lillie Mae Peterson about 1917 in Butler, MO. Lillie was daughter of Otto Peterson and Maude Armstrong. Some are buried at Newton Cem. in and Antioch Cem., in Vernon County, MO. Hattie Gray had sister Nettie Gray that married Hornbuckle and she is buried in Cripple Creek, CO. Otto Peterson and Maude Armstrong has these children: Lillie Mae Peterson Mary Peterson married Lawrence Brown Susie Peterson married Martin Schultz Hannah Peterson born 1914 died 1995 Clara Bell Peterson married Elza Adcock LLoyd Peterson married Mildred Kemper Otto Peterson married Rosalee Grace ? John STANLEY and wife Ann Eliza CUNNINGHAM moved to Vernon Co MO in 1890 along with their son Burbin STANLEY and wife Geanette HALL. Burbin remarried around 1894 to Viola Jeanette MILLER. John Stanley's two other sons lived in Bates and Cedar Co's as did some of Ann Eliza Cunningham's family. James B Stanley married Martha Cunningham in 1890 Vernon Co, but resided in Cedar Co. Harvey Stanley was married to a LIzzie ? and resided in Bates Co in 1900. Alexander Cunningham and family lived in Cedar Co, he had one daughter Ruth who married a Halloway/Hollaway. Looking for Jacob A Johnston born in Henry Co. July 1855, father was John Johnston, mother Catherine Smith. Did they have another son named Phyletus? My Phyletus Johnson born ca 1860 in MO and lived in Vernon Co and Johnson Co., MO and also KS, Wabaunsee Co in Dec 1885. Phyletus married Nancy Jane Smallwood in Nevada, MO 1880. John H. Wentworth moved in 1842 to Harrison Township in Vernon Co. but think it was Bates Co. at that time period, that is south of Neveda and he lived close to the KS state line. Mary (Polly) S. (Spencer) Wentworth, his wife died in March1845, John H. Wentworth on 08/03/1848 purchased property in Vernon Co., MO. some time after that he sold his land and moved back to Knox Co., IL. He did moved back to MO but settled in Cedar Co., and was in the 1850 census there. Horace Wentworth lived in Veronon Co. also believe that to be son, but he also returned to IL. Susan Wentworth his daughter married a Eli Collins, and they lived in Kansas. Sarah B. Wentworth married Samuel Reed Sr. and lived in Metz and Rich Hill, MO area, these are my GGGrandparents. John & Polly Wentworth had 9 childern, don't know if any other stayed around there, have a lot more on this family.

My uncle and I have been looking for William Homer REEDs family for years. We are not sure of his fathers name. Otis Willett "Willie" Burnett, b. c. 1880, s/o George & Emma Burnett James "Joe" Joseph Cornelius Kelly, h/o Anna C. Burnett, b. 1867. Joe's parents were Patrick Kelly m. Mary/Marie Murphy (Patrick and Mary/Marie may have been using a variation on their given names...i.e., Patrick, instead of James Patrick Kelly). James Joseph "Jim" Cornelius Kelly, s/o Joe & Anna Kelly, b. August 4, 1904, in St. Louis, MO. Jim Kelly may have gone back to live in Vernon County for a time, as a young man/teenager. Cordelia "Delia" Jennings (sister of Emma), b. 1856, VA, m. James Robert "Robert" Craighead/Craghead, b. c. 1850, in Callaway County, MO. They lived in Harwood, Vernon County for at least twelve years after they were married circa the early 1870s. Delia and Robert Craighead had four children together. A son died in childhood. I know the name of one daughter, Florence Craighead, who was born in Harwood, Vernon County, in 1880. Sometime in the late 1880s-early 1890s, Delia and Robert Craighead moved back to Callaway County, MO. I have more detailed and accurate info, plus pictures, to share.
