    1. Arthur Rauck (1920 in Washington, Vernon Co.)
    2. Dr. Michael Rauck
    3. Hello, I am Michael Rauck from Munich/Bavaria. I'll be on this list only temporarily, you might consider me someone who only wants something without being able to offer much to the list. I am looking for descendants of Arthur Rauck, who appears in the US CENSUS 1900: in Herman, Wasnhington Co, MO, age 18 (sic!) 1920: in Washington, Vernon Co., MO, age 46 His only sister was Addie (Orlinda Adaline) Rauck, born 23 Aug 1870 Herman, died 26 Aug 1966 Sedalia, Pettis Co, MO. Her obit doesn't provide info on siblings' families. Their father Burkard Joseph Rauck, born in Fulda/Hesse in 1843, came as a teacher and merchant to the USA in 1866 (second time 1873). I'll appreciate all hints, thank you. Michael Rauck

Chris Benjamin Franklin Berry born 3-7-1866 Hargraves Mill Putnam County, Missouri I have not been able to verify or obtain any birth information as now there is no Hargraves mill. I don't know where to start looking. Benjamin married a Mary Susan Wood 1-1893 in Nevada, Vernon County, Mo. They had 7 daughters: Sarah Ellen Berry b. Oct 1893 Nevada, Missouri d. July 1966 Maudie May Berry b. nov 1895, Nevada, Mo. d. 1969 Ethel Ann Berry b. Feb 1898, Nevada Mo. d. Mar 1976 Mary Susan Berry b. James Berry self 41 Anetta Berry wife 39 Franklin Berry son 14 John Berry son Thomas Berry son E. Claudy Berry son Franklin is the right age, 14, and the mother, we found this family in the 1900 census in Vernon County, and the mother is the right age compared with the 1900 census, would have been born in 1841. Even though she is listed as Sarah and a widow in the 1900 census, she may have had either 2 names or a nickname. the family called Gladys Beatrice Berry jeanette, so they could have nicked her after Benjamins mother. Benjamin is listed as Franklin in the 1880, Frank in the 1900, and Benjamin F. Berry in the 1920 census in Iola Kansas. Any help very much appreciated! Chris Bartholomew New info: Benjamin Franklin Berry rode shotgun for the stage in Colorado and Montana before Pony express, His nick name was Quick Kid, he had a 12 gague shotgun strapped to his leg, and everyone respected him. . later in life he worked an maintenance man at the Swyder Bldg in Wichita. 1. William H Blanton
    2. Seeking additional information on William H Blanton b 1831 TN d May 1872 Vernon Co., MO. He came to Vernon County in the 1850’s where he practiced law, served as coroner in 1859 and was elected to represent the county in 1858. In 1859 he married Martha Jane Harbin, a daughter of A S Harbin who represented Barry County, MO in the state legislature. In 1860, W H and Martha Jane Blanton were living next door to Alfred S Harbin in Barry County. In 1862, A S Harbin and several other families removed to Travis Co. Texas. In 1867, W H Blanton was back in Barry County to settle the affairs of A S Harbin who died in Texas. One more child was born in Texas before W H & Martha returned to Vernon County where he may have been in partnership with Eliah Hausbrough. In 1872 when W H Blanton died, Martha Jane Blanton made petition to sell part of the land, 700 acres in Vernon and Wright counties and for a widow’s dower. It appears, per the 1876 secional map, that she retained 60 acres in section 8, southwest of Neveda and 320 acres in section 24, T 35, Rng 30. One of the acreages sold was the SE 1/4 of section, south of Neveda, except for 10 acres in the NW corner of the quarter section where Deepwood Cemetery is located. Can anyone HELP with: 1. Is William H Blanton buried at Deepwood Cemetery? Or any of the Blantons. 2. Was Martha Jane Blanton and her family in Vernon County for the 1880 census? Thanks, Bill Landers Cape Cod, MA

    1. Need Help!
    2. Janice Neagle
    3. I may have already asked this, but I'm trying again. I'm looking for Robert Levi Pryor in Vernon County in 1910 and 1920 timeframe. If anyone has access to the Miracode or Soundex for these two census, could you please check for him. His wife's name was Mary Catherine, and I think she may have died before 1910, but I can't determine that for sure. Also, if anyone has access to city directories for Nevada for that period, could you check for him in those. His last two children - Rose and Ruth were born in Rinehart in 1902 and 1904, so I think he was still in the area. I would appreciate any help I can get. I have been able to find some of his relatives, but not him. Thanks!!! -- Janice Neagle, PHR Human Resource Director Cowley County Community College

    1. Townships that surround Schell City, and HARWOOD?
    2. Susanne L Moyer
    3. Hi List, I am trying to locate a family of MOYER'S- (ADAM M., and ELEANOR B). that lived in the Schell City area. They are buried in the Green Lawn Cem.., which is one mile West of Schell City, and the parents- JACOB and MARY MOYER are buried in the Green Mound Cem . one mile North of HARWOOD. JACOB d.-06 April, 1900, and MARY d. 21 Nov., 1918. I am trying to find Jacob's family in the 1900 census. Mary would be a widow, with children. Jacob and Mary's daughter ANNETTE was married in Schell City, 26 April, 1903 to Herman ALBERTI, so I know they were in this area from 1900-1903, and the son ADAM was in the Schell City area until 1953, and his wife ELEANOR until her death in 1974. If no one can answer this info, does anyone know where I can locate a TWP. MAP of VERNON CO. on-line? I am from TX. so I do not know the locations of the Townships, in Vernon Co., MO. Your help would be greatly appreciated, Sue Moyer -- Sue Moyer sue@remconinc.com

    3. I need to try answer these questions if possible. If you can answer one or all please let me know? THANKS SO MUCH!!!! 01. Calvin JAMES went to Southeast Kansas, where he was one of the earliest settlers. He "broke out" some prairie land and built some cabins on the west side of Spring River near the mouth Shoal Creek which is now Cherokee Co., Kansas. He properly done this after 1835 because he had a permit from David M. Harlan to be on land. David didn't arrive untill 1835 from GA 01A. He lived near Spring River near mouth of the Shoal Creek. Then near Carthage, Mo., he had land were he built three cabins. Spring River runs northof Carthage, Jasper County. Tucker Ford on Spring was used by troops during the battle of Carthage. A spring, east of the center of town, was originally named James Spring. The names of this spring has changed, found nothing to indicate why it was first named James. Which one is the right one. Looks like the last one is more detailed.? 02. Calvin JAMES appears in the Deerfield Township, Van Buren Co., MO., Census of 1840. Please note that Calvin married Perlina Tucker 26 March 1839, Cass Co., Mo 03. Then in Census of 1850 for McDonald Co., MO., Family Dwelling # 147., Calvin 36 TN farmer, (real estate value $100), Perlina 31 TN, David Solon 9 MO, William W 4 MO, James Franklin 2 MO. This was taken in 53rd District.. 04. He probably later moved to Jasper County, Missouri, just a few miles east across the state line, and served as a Justice of the Peace in 1855. Is there any proof of this?? 05. Calvin JAMES was appointed first postmaster 8 Dec 1858, at Brushville, McGee Co., KS., for a year or two. This info is found in a book called Kansas Post Offices, or similar. The stuff on Lowell and Tennessee Prairie says that the office was discontinued at the time of the battle of Carthage (date?). Where was Brushville and did it close on account of Calvin death? 06. Calvin had built three cabins on his place, and about 1859 Quaker Valley Mills, a school was taught in one of them by the daughter of Dr. Lisle. Does someone know about is? Sure would like to verily. 07. 1860 Calvin 46 Tennessee, Perlina 41 Tennessee, David S. 18 Missouri This is from a Census but which and where is the rest of the information? 08. He died before the Civil War and is buried near Carthage, Missouri. This came from my grandmother sister, where and when?? SOURCES: The James Family: a genealogy of James by Norman S James (self published) Notes from Norman S James to me. Book on Kansas Post Offices Volunteer for with the Cherokee County Kansas Genealogical-Historical, by Marilyn SCH SOURCE: LOWELL AND TENNESSEE PRAIRIE A Historical Sketch of the Oldest Settled Portion of the County. Copied from the Modern Light, January 27, 1898 Edited by Dorothy Fanoele A family named JAMES, brother in law to DAVE HARLAN, had a settlement by his permit, about a quarter mile above the present location of the Quaker Valley Mills, having three log houses by the old road near the bank of the river. In one of these houses a daughter of Dr. Lisle taught what was probably the first school in the limits of what is now Cherokee County about 1859.[Carol Louise Hartung Rini.FTW] This is from Norman S. James researching [ a self published book ] Book on Kansas Post Offices: The book states that the office was discontinued at the time of the "Battle of Carthage" Terry
