He died sometime in 1876 in Solo, Texas County, MO. He is buried in a family cemetary on land that was part of his farm. He was married twice, first in 1834 to Juliana Bryan, daughter of Lewis Bryan Jr.(d. 1857) and then to Rebbeca Presley. He had nine children by each marriage. Of his eight sons, six were old enough to serve in the Civil War. Supposedly, three fought for the South and three for the North. Job filed a claim with tne Northern Claims commision and testified that he was a Union synpathizer. He took his family by wagon train through the Cumberland Gap to Texas Co, Missouri following the War in the late 1860s and bought in the Solo community of Texas County.
