George W. Raffety was wd, not a widow. smile Marguerette
George W Raffety married Lorena S. Inman in Texas Co., MO. They were married 03 June, 1887. Eliza Inman, mother gave her permission to marriage. George and Lorena were both of Gravel Point, Texas Co., MO. I believe I have found them in the 1910 census for Lincoln Co., OK, the George W. is shown as widow in the 1920 census there. I cannot find them in 1900 census. Haden Inman, brother of Lorena S. Inman Raffety is in Lincoln Co., OK by 1920. Lorena and Haden were both born in Texas Co., MO. I have Heritage Quest online but still cannot find them. Marguerette
I have 2 pieces of information on a family member (Edward Adamson) who died in Texas County in August 1879. The 1880 Mortality Index states that he died in Cass Township. An old newspaper article states that he was found in the "Hamilton neighborhood". I need help determining where this might be...I would like to search the 1880 census for that area just to find who was living in that area at the time. Please help me if you can!
Looking for anyone researching the above surnames in Texas Co. Also, if someone passed away in Texas Co. in about 1915, where would the most likely funeral home be located that would have handled the death? I have called three funeral homes in the area of Ozark Township, where my families lived & none were in business that long ago. Thank you very much for any help. Dear List, I just made a post a few minutes ago that is in error. My apologies. Below is the corrected post. I am seeking any info on the family of John Rodgers Evans (b. @ 1845 AL) and wife, Elizabeth JOHNSON (b. @ 1841 GA). They were married on 6 Aug 1867 in Texas Co. MO. John Rodgers Evans was s/o William Evans (b. @ 1818 TN) and Elizabeth Dunham. Elizabeth JOHNSON had a brother named Thomas Monroe Johnson who was married to Eva Jane Evans on 5 Sept 1869. Texas Co. MO. I believe Eva Jane Evans was d/o John P. Evans, (b. 1823 AL), a younger (probably half-brother) to above listed William Evans. Believe John Rodgers Evans and Eva Jane Evans were cousins, but cannot prove it yet. I do have info on these families and am always willing to exc. info. Regards, Judy in TX

The index can be searched by first name and last name, county, and by year and month. Once a name is selected, a digitized image of the original certificate can be retrieved. This is an ongoing project and additional records will be added as they are transcribed and imaged. If the image of the certificate is not yet available researchers can request a photocopy of the certificate by contacting the Archives Reference Desk . For death certificates less than 50 years old please contact the Missouri Bureau of Vital Records. Webaddress: http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/#search
I would like to say that the previous email sent to the list with subject line of Gas War has been handled offlist and I would really appreciate it if no comments are made on the list in that regard. I am requesting it be removed from our archives also. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation in this matter, Lainee Denton-Jones MOHenry List Administrator

Mike, I tried to respond to you by hitting reply and Verizon is blocking me/my isp...so am now sending my reply to the list so that you don't think I didn't respond. Lainee<----who is hoping it isn't the alternative and that Mike is blocking her! LOL Thanks for your response...that's how I got Mary Jane's death information. Her's in the only one of interest right now. I have a little problem...so what else is new?! I am wondering if there is an obituary for Mary Jane Fisher...died Piney Township January 31, 1915...and if anyone would have access to any thing like that. I ask because I have conflicting sources: 1. Daughter of Mary Jane Fisher and husband James L. Fisher was Ada. Her death info states her parents were James L. Fisher and Mary Jane Woodin, but I have been unable to find any Mary Jane Woodin in the 1860 census....birth info from census records for Mary Jane and William state that Mary Jane was born about 1852 in Missouri. 2. I asked for a lookup...from this list I think...and found Mary Jane Fisher buried in the Ozark Cemetery: Texas County Cemeteries, volume 5, page 82. Ozark Cemetery, Piney Township. Fisher, Mary J. 1853 - 1915 Other Fisher' buried here; Henry H. 1841 - 1919 Frank L. 25 June 1911 - 11 Oct. 1926 Alice H. 1871 - 1941 Harry B. 1872 - 1921 3. Death cert from the new online Missori Database states that Mary Jane's father's name was Thomas Shaw, born England, and unknown for mother's maiden name. The death cert also states that Mary Jane was born April 25, 1853 (not far enough off census records to be concerned) in Lockport, Illinois. Am hoping someone can help in figuring this mess out! LOL Thanks in advance for any and all help, Lainee
April 06, 2006 Missouri Death Certificate Project Now Online The following is an announcement from Missouri Secretary of State Secretary of State Robin Carnahan's office: Carnahan Provides Online Access to Over Two Million Death Certificates from 1910-1955 Jefferson City, Missouri -- Secretary of State Robin Carnahan announced that her office has unveiled a new, online death certificate database during an event at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters. The database, which is the largest online project ever completed by the Missouri State Archives, contains over two million individual death certificates searchable by name, county, or month and year. In addition, the database contains digital images of certificates from 1910-1920, with subsequent years to follow. "I'm pleased that our office can provide the public with unprecedented access to information about Missouri's history. This online database is an invaluable tool of genealogical and historical research that will enable us to learn more about the history of our families, as well as our common past," said Carnahan. A death certificate can reveal information of great value to genealogists and historians about the life of the deceased, such as occupation, birthplace, parents, and marital status. A death certificate can also reveal important information about social history, such as recording the deadly influenza epidemic that struck Missouri and the nation in 1918, causing more deaths than any other year from 1910-1955. Within the collection are the death certificates of the notorious James Gang outlaw Cole Younger; Kansas City political boss Tom Pendergast; St. Louis Civil Rights Attorney Homer G. Phillips; and numerous Missouri governors. The Death Certificate Database was made possible by the work of over 600 volunteers and students from across the nation and other countries, who logged over 27,000 hours. Volunteers will continue to work on the project until digital images of all the certificates are available online, an accomplishment that will benefit genealogists and scholars throughout the country. The database will be available at http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates. Posted by Dick Eastman on April 06, 2006 | Permalink
