Good morning listers. My name is Don Kelly and I admin the ARGenWeb website for Franklin County, Arkansas. I am new here, but I have tons of cousins who at one time lived in Tyrone, MO. Here is a brief record....starting in Tennessee: Many Tennessee Rutledge families seem related to Rutledge brothers Thomas F., Lorenzo Dow, Emanuel and their sister Lucy, all of Hawkins County, TN. Thomas and wife Wilson's children were Nancy, Stephen, Sarah, Joseph, Mary and Cornelius. Stephen Rutledge and wife Wilson were my 4gparents. In 1851 3gfather Stephen in his diary said that he traveled by horseback from Pikeville, Bledsoe County, TN south to Sequatchie County to witness the hanging of a murderer named Godfry. While crossing the river he rescued his future wife Mary who's horse had foundered in mid stream and threw her into the water. As she caught her breath she stated she was Mary Massey from Sequatchie. Stephen was about eighteen years old and Mary about sixteen years old when they got married in 1851. That same year they apparently moved to Henryville in Lawrence County, TN. 1852 Mary was born in Henryville, Lawrence County, Tennessee, but died young. Chronology of birth records at this point gets more confusing. 1853 John B. Rutledge was born in (unknown county) Alabama. In 1873 John married a Roark in Tyrone, MO. Two Alabama counties are close to Lawrence county, so best guess is John was born in either Lauderdale or Limestone counties which are immediately south of Giles and Lawrence Counties. We need to document where. 1855 Sarah is born in Giles County, TN. In Tyrone about 1875 Sarah married a Marsee. 1858 Virginia is born, but died young. 1860 Chelnessee is born in Lawrence County, TN. In Tyrone 1876 she married Henry Mentlo Owen. The Owen family came from Smith County, TN. Stephen was in the Army, captured at Ft. Donaldson, released by prisoner exchange in Arkansas, captured again in Georgia 1863, but he and a friend escaped from the prison train and walked through occupied territory home to Tennessee. 1864 James (Harve) Rutledge born. He later married a Quackenbush...Probably Tyrone. 1867 Jerome Rutledge born. He married a Urbeck....probably Tyrone. NOTE: Jerome may have been the minister at Elk Creek Baptist Church. Is Elk Creek near Tyrone? After 1867 Stephen moved his family to Tyrone, Texas County, MO where four more children were born. 1869 Flora born. Married a McKinney. 1872 William born. Married a Morgan. 1874 Martha born. Married a Wilkerson. 1877 Theresa born. Married a Kyger. Some of these kids may have married in Dent County instead of Tyrone.....but yet not researched yet. Some may have later moved to Texas, California or Washington State. 1876 in Tyrone Missouri Chelnessee Rutledge married Henry Mentlo Owen. Henry was born in Smith County, TN. We don't know when the Owen's arrived in Tyrone. NOTE: Another family of relatives by marriage is the Lay Family. The infamous Ken Lay may be a cousin, but so far that is scuttlebut. Henry and Chelnessie had ten children starting in Tyrone and ending in Benton County, Arkansas. Henry died 1924? and Chelnessie 1937. Daughter, Sarah Flora Owen Kelly, born Tyrone ca 1885 was my grandmother. There are a lot of surnames here and we hope some listers may be related and can fill in some of the gaps. Can anyone connect these dots. Thanks a bunch. Don Kelly of Kelly, Owen and Rutledge

I forgot to mention all of my Rustin/Perrine (pronounced like that) were located in Cole Co. Mo.
My grandmother was a Rustin and in some census's it is spelled Ruston. She always told me her family spelled it Rustin like rusty tin. When she was 10 years old she went to work for the Prine/Perrine family. She was treated well and spoke very kindly of the family. My grandmother was b. 1875 and d. 1968. She told me while working for them it was the first time she saw can goods...all vegetables she canned herself but some in the 1880 were begining to show up in the stores. Some of the Rustins married Perrine family members. My grandmother was the granddaughter of Noah Rustin. Noah Rustin was the son of Jacob Rustin from Greenville Tenn. Lee Kirtley

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kNB.2ACI/1902.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: hi Stacy; My name is Jim Heady and Cornelious was my great great grandfather. Thomas Louis(Lewis) was the youngest of the Parker brothers. He first married Easter Cantrell. Sometime after 1855 the Parkers left Tennessee enmasse. Two sisters: Sary Luceyan who married Thomas Ready. and Martha Parker who married a Pennington. It is believe his first name was Thomas. The Parkers were said to have gone to Ill. before coming to Missouri but I have not found land records. Several things occured in Tennessee that may have prompted their move to greener pastures. First Levi Parker their father died in1839 and their mother Sara Bragg sold the homestead to Edward Bragg. Sarah died soon after Levi but the court records continued after her death. It seems Edward didn't pay Sarah so her second son John Wesley went to court to try and rectify things. He was declared a pauper and not allowed to proceed. he evidently found monetary backing(it is presumed from his grandfather Dozier Bragg who! se property was adjacent to Levi and Sarah's) and went for forward with the lawsuit. After Levi's death an administrator was appointed by the court and he and Edward were sued and found liable. Also Charity Sauls wife of Cornelious died during childbirth around 1855. They had a daughter living in 1850 but was not enumerated in 1860 In Texas co., Mo. Cornelious had remarried to a Mary A age 21 from Tennessee ad that is all we know about her. In the late 1850's Dozier Franklin the third son brought Sarah Pennington from Ill to live with Cornelious. She is also enumerated on the 1870 census. Their grandfather had died in 1853 and with the deaths and lawsuits among family members they may have had some money and decided this was the time for a new start. The Parkers were clanish and stuck together. But afterCornelious and John Wesley were murdered in 1863 Dozier must have gone back to Ill because on the 1870 census it appears to of his children were born there during this time! . Thomas remarried Caroline Bradshaw a neighbor. Her formal name Was M ary Caroline. She was considerably younger than Thomas and they had a second family. Finally they move to Texas and aftersome moves ended up in Brown co., Texas where he died around 1809. He is buried there. Dozier stayed in Arkansas and is buried at Brentwood cemetery in Washington co., Arkansas. The LDS records show Thomas in Barry co., Mo. in 1870 but I have not been able to find anything about his where abouts in 1870. Nor have I been able to find Sarah Pennington. Just a few years latter she married a man name Huddleston. They had a passel of kids and ended up in Texas. My ggrandfather was the youngest son of Cornelious and I cannot acount for him in 1870. The older children are in Maries co. Sary Luceyan died at ayoung age of T B in 1870 but the two Parker boys's Henry and Levi remained closely connected with Thomas and his two sons Levi and Isaac Ready. John David must not been far away because he married a neighbor in 1877. I think I wrote that I have copies of two! pages from Thomas's Bible. I have quite a lot on Thomas so if you let me know which child you are descended from I can send you what I have. I know less about Dozier's family than any of the rest. He had a daughter E C born inlate 1861. I have wondered if this was a memorial name and Easter died in 1861 instead of 1862. E C stood for Easter Contrell....Columbus' (he dropped the William but name his son William Columbus) tombstone says 1862 but when you are orphaned it is not always easy to know details...I hope this helps to start you on your way. Jim Heady
