My name is Doris Arlene Smith Threlfall (Mrs. James). The chronology of children of Will and Belle is as follows: Thomas dob unk. presumably died at birth Louisa Frances b. 25 Feb 1884 in Jamestown John William (later changed to "Wilkes") b 25 Aug 1885 Edna Pearl b 29 June 1887; Etta May b 2 Mar 1889 in Evening Shade; Mary b 30 Jul 1891; James Porter b. 6 Apr 1893 Eve. Shade; Dorothy b. 23 Feb. 02 in Opalis, KS born dead; Casper "Bud" b. 28 Feb 04 in Texas Co. Have more detailed information on family, but do not have them in readable form yet. Am most anxious to learn parentage of Tom Smith and Mary Sartain (Sarten); however, I see you are tracking the Hildebrand side of the marriage through Belle. Assume (foolish premise) you know the situation of the two Louisa's. If not, let me refer you to a book by Michal Farmer on the Adam Martin Family. You will find detailed information on the Martin/Hildebrands et al in this book. Michal thorought documented all information in the book -- at least anything that could be documented. The book can be found in most public libraries -- and I would guess especially in Missouri and Texas. If you want the descendency of any of the aforementioned names, please let me know and I will provide what you want as soon as possible. You can reach me at: [email protected] com. We live in Mesa, AZ 85208-1363 (7750 E. Broadway Rd. #503. (480-380-9852. We have four married children, six grandchildren, 2 granddaughters-in-law and will add a third the 8th of September. One Great Granddaughter in Texas whom we have not met -- Jordan JoAnn Threlfall. Will be going to California for the wedding first week in September.

    3. I am looking for any information on Vance Whitaker and Sarah (Saylors) Whitaker. These are my grandparents and are buried in Licking, Texas County, MO. Sarah's parents were William "Bill" Saylors and Louise. Vance and Sarah owned a grocery store in Licking in the 1930s. On my grandmother, Sarah Saylors, I know nothing about her. Vance and Sarah had 5 children: Lulu Mae, Lena, Clyde, Bill, & Vernon. Lulu Mae was my mother. Has there been a book published with a listing of the Licking Cemetery? I am hoping that some dates are written on the headstone. Could someone please tell me the name of the Funeral Chapel in Licking? Thank you for your help R. Montgomery

    2. This is probably a real stretch on my part, but... My great grandparents, John T. Smith and Mary Jane Allen Smith lived in Texas CO. In the 1870 census they have Martha, Nancy and Hannah Allen living with them. I am trying to find great/great grandparents on this line. I do not know if these girls were sisters, nieces, cousins or what Sometime after John T. died, Mary Jane and her sons from first marriage (Gross) moved to Cherokee, CO, Oklahoma. They were there by 1903 when my mother was born. I have heard my mother talk about Watson kin that she grew up with in Oklahoma, but can't remember names. Do you think our Allen girls might be related? My Mary Jane was born in TN. They were in MO by the 1850s. Here's hoping........... Jan Paul

    1. [MOTEXAS] Obituary or Funeral Record?
    2. Ron Grassi
    3. Hi to all, It seems that more and more people are requesting obituaries for the mailing lists. I would SUGGEST that people use www.funeralnet.com. Where do you think the newspapers get the information for the obits? By using the web site listed here, you can find names/addresses/phone numbers for funeral homes ALL OVER THE WORLD! If you have someone who has passed, and you know they passed in a certain place, and have even the year they passed, you can contact the funeral homes in the town/city, and request a copy of the Record of Funeral for that person or person. In the more recent years, say from about 1960 or so, from my experience, there is quite a bit of genealogical information in the funeral record. Sometimes, even the cause of death is listed, along with the plot, and space in the cemetery. I've even found names/addresses/phone numbers of survivors! If you don't want to call the funeral home, then write to them requesting the information. Here is an example of what I write: Business name Address City, State, Zip To whom it may concern, I am doing genealogy research, and have found that (name of person) passed away in or near (name of town/city.) Could you please check your records and see if you handled the arrangements? If you handled the arrangements, would you please send me a copy of the Record of Funeral? I am enclosing a SASE for your reply. Thank you for your time and assistance. Sincerely, (name of researcher) If anyone wants to use the above information, please do so. You should be able to copy and paste to Notepad or whatever word processor you use. Keep Well! Do Good Work! Stay in touch! ciao, Ron

    3. Ron: A lot of funeral homes will not send a copy of the death record unless you apper in person. Also Obit., in newspapers are either put there by the family or funeral home; either way the family pays to have it put in the paper. The paper dose not get it from the inernet. They do not print free Obit's. Harold Gosnell
