Hello: I am looking for information on the Morris families who resided in Taney County early on and especially 1850. I had been given some information and need to try and verify it. My Morris line is as follows: John W. Morris was born July 6, 1847 somewhere in MO. new information indicates he was born in Taney County. John married first Martha Embry October 4, 1866 in Webster Co. Missouri, I have their marriage record. They appear on the 1870 Webster Co. Census with two daughters Mary Jane and Sarah and two other persons a Nancy Morris age 59 Tnn and Sarah Connor age 39 Ark. Sometime shortly after the 1870 census the family moves to Taney Co. Missouri where daughter Rebecca was born, and in 1873 son William Franklin Morris was born. After 1873 and before 1876 Martha Embry Morris died. John W. Morris married again to Caroline Honeycutte. I have tracked this family to Ava, Douglas County Missouri 1880 census, to Boone Co. Arkansas and finally to Sequoyah Co. Ok. where they remained. John W. Morris died May 1912 and Caroline Honeycutte Morris died 1935 buried in Akins Cemetery near Sallisaw Ok. The new information I have received was that it was thought that John's father was a Thomas Morris in Taney County. I have tried recently to view the census records for 1850 and Taney County but the fates or my Gr. Gr. Grandfather John W. Morris have conspired against my doing so. According to family memories he would not talk about his family, therefore leaving his parents one of my biggest brick walls. There are Morris's mentioned in the Turnbo Tales and that this maybe the Morris families I would like to know about. So if there are any people out there that would happen to know about those Morris in Taney County circa 1850 I would like to correspond with them. I will state this, I have absolutely no other information on my Morris line in Webster Co. Missouri than I stated above. I know of no brothers or sisters or any other relatives of John W. Morris other than his children of both marriages. I do believe that this Nancy Morris in the 1870 census must be a relative, possibly his mother. Age wise makes it doubtful its his Grandmother as he is 23 years old and she is 59, but not ruling anything out. Thank you Nancy M. Boyd
