I recently posted a message seeking information on any descendants of General W. Thurman (1837 - 1903) of Taney County, Missouri. General, whose name may have been Everett, was married to my gr-gr-grandmother, Martha Franklin Walker Thurman (1843 - 1890). I descend from one of Martha's first two children by her first husband, Thomas H. Walker (killed in Civil War). Martha had six children by General Thurman: Hannah Thurman b. 1870; Lenora Thurman b. 1872; Sterling or Sterl Thurman b. 1876; Theodore Thurman b. 1878; James Martin Thurman b. May 17, 1881 and died June 1, 1941, in Oroville, California; and Lucy Thurman Hill b. 1883. Sterling Thurman had a grape vineyard in Forsyth. His two known children were Ellen Thurman Olsen (wife of Kenneth Olsen) and Warren Thurman who married Florence Kelly, daughter of Charles Kelly. James Martin Thurman was married to Hattie Mae Beckett (June 11, 1881 - Aug. 23, 1944) in Poplar Bluff, MO. Their children were: Gertrude "Gertie" Thurman (1899 - 1911); Francis Thurman (died as a child of smallpox); Pearl Ellen Thurman Watson Hammers (Sept. 23, 1909 in Hollister, MO - Aug. 1996 in California); Andy Thurman (died in Placerville, California, at age 20); Goldie "Reet" Thurman b. 1916; George Gray Thurman (Oct. 22,1918 in MO - Oct. 21, 1942 in Butte, California); Fred "Dood" Thurman (died in July 1982 in Oroville, California); Alfred Thurman (died in the 1980s in Ukiah, California). Lucy Thurman Hill b. Dec. 1883 - married James Henry Hill, a son of Asa David Hill and Sarilda Jane Adkins Hill (Mar. 17, 1881 - Mar. 9, 1970 in Carroll, MO); and had two children: Winifred and Robert Hill. After Martha Franklin Walker Thurman's death in 1890, General Thurman married Mary M. "Margaret" Filbeck b. Dec. 10, 1865 - d. May 2, 1938. They had three children: (Twins) Oscar (who settled in Washington State and Arthur "Red" Thurman (who lived in the Sacramento area) b. May 1893; and Priscilla Ann Thurman Hampton b. Dec. 22, 1901, in Branson; married Richard Luther Hampton on Dec. 26, 1917, in Forsyth. Priscilla died July 31, 1983, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. If anyone has any information on anyone in this particular family, please let me know.
