Hi listers and Marlene I am thinking that this is the same William Petty that married Elizabeth Coffey-- Perhaps Melinda died and he remarried-- It seems strange that Elizabeth Coffey was related to Daniel Boone and this William Petty was living only about 2 miles from where the Boones Lived. She did sign Deed with a Mark that she was his Wife Nathan Boone buildt a home on the Femme Osage Creek in 1812-- Daniel died there while visting in 1821 . If you look on Mo Map you can judge distance from Osage and Gasconade co. Mo The only thing That I know is that this William Petty bought a land patent for $50.00 (40 acreas). He sold the land to a family named Watson and that was about 1839---- His wife Melinda must have died and if they had children maybe they also died-- This fits in with the story that he married Elizabeth Coffey in 1840.- Maybe why he sold and moved! I lived on that farm for 40 years 1944 until 1984 and lived in that house. There is a cem. at the town of Schluersburg Mo-- that is where this is located-- but there was no Petty buried-- may have been unmarked.this William seems to fit in a proper age for the William that married Elizabeth Coffey-- Do you know any thing about this Coffey Family---- Did she have a sister named Melinda?? Thanks Joyce
