Well, now! Congrats to Mike St. Clair for becoming the Taney Co. website coordinator! I'm sure you'll do wonderful! On a similar note--I discovered I don't like messing with websites, LOL, after nearly 3 years of doing so--Brian Shay is taking over the White River Valley Historical Society website. He's a natural for it, since he usually goes on the cemetery hops, and has a love for documentation. Thank you very much, Brian! I made the mistake, when I started out, of thinking the website coordinator and the list coordinator were the same person--and that ain't necessarily so. Many, like Jo Dunne of the Stone Co. site, do coordinate both, and do a great job. (She makes it hard to follow in her footsteps!) I like the idea of there being different people for both, too. There's not a lot to do with "list business", but as y'all witnessed a couple weeks ago, I was a little slow getting someone off that apparently didn't know how to read. People don't just get put on lists by accident--my guess is that she simply didn't know what she was doing when she clicked on to join, and maybe still hasn't made the connection. Been there, done that...although I'm pretty sure my mama did a better job raising me! Now...the Bald Knobber Reenactment this year will be 14 June at 3 PM in Shadow Rock Park. "Outlaw Roundup" isn't a fitting title anymore (the purposes behind that name no longer exist), and "Law Day" doesn't really suit anymore, either. Does anyone have a suggestion for a title to the event? "Bald Knobber Day", "Taney Co. History Day", whatever? Something catchy, but not unwieldy. We use "White River Valley Gathering" for the fall pow-wow event, because we eventually would like to have a Celtic clan gathering in conjunction (we're getting there). Ideas? Brian needs a title for the update on the WRVHS homepage. No, you don't have to design the logo as well! (although ideas on that would be alright, too!) Before that, we will be holding a rummage sale during Forsyth's city-wide yard sale on 17 May. The proceeds from the sale will go to improving the sound for the play. We used body mikes on nearly everybody 2 years ago, and that was really expensive. Last year, we only used 3 body mikes, and a lot of area mikes, which was not satisfactory in sound quality. Since I'm nearly deaf, it's an issue that's of considerable importance to me. The play is held outside, as you know, and short of seeing if the Forsyth PD will close off Hwy 160 to any loud vehicle (not really an option!), we've decided to attempt the body mikes again, with lots of speakers throughout the audience area. If you have items you'd like to donate to the rummage sale, <BG> and live nearby, let me know! That's about all I know right now. The dogwoods are losing their blossoms, and the clover in my back yard is nearly knee-high (Greg hasn't gotten my mower ready yet this year!) I have most of my seeds and seedlings planted, amazingly enough. It's going to be a great spring! Have a GREAT week! V
