I'm looking for a death date and obituary of Rose Cochrane. She was born in Ohio about 1858-59 and most likely about 1870's or 1880's, moved to Nevada, Misouri. She lived to the grand old the age of 96. That would make her death at about 1954 or 1955. She lived in Hollister where she died. I'd also like to know where she is buried. I sure would appreciate any help. Thank you, Maureen
This is off the subject We are going on vacation, how do I unsubscribe to each list Thanks in advance Wanda grnd5@aol.com

I am excited to announce that the first phase of our web page is now up and ready for everyone to visit. At this time, we do not have any family trees out there. However, we have centered on documents. I and 2 other genealogists have been gathering since the 1970s and my daughter and I have decided to make the effort to make it available to researchers. No fees, it is free - as genealogy ought to be. Our main lines are: DeShields, Parton, Womack, Green, Austin, Brittian, Bly, with twenty or 30 more names added in. However, you will find things like: Alton Prison Journal by Capt Frost Index; Boone County Burial Association (gives members who died within a 90 day period 1938-1948), and much more. Come visit the sight and if you want to add something, let us know. Sign our guest book, we would like to know what you think. Rock Fence Genealogy - Main or http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jmwtlw/index.htm Tonya Parton Williams & Reta DeShields Parton 1808 W Huntsville Springdale, Ar 72762 479-751-6947 rpsodapop@aol.com gggranddaughter of Handy DeShields and Nancy Womack DeShields ggrandaughter of John Wesley DeShields and Frankey Greene DeShields grandaughter of Dennie DeShields and Ruby Lee Austin DeShields daughter of D. Good Morning! Just to catch you up on what's going on... The Forsyth cleanup for Shadow Rock Park on Saturday had a good turnout; I believe there were at least 75 people there, groups ranging from those of us in the historical society to Girl Scouts and ROTC. Rick, Greg, Ingrid, Jo, Phyllis, and I worked on the east end of the north side, where the cabin is, getting the grounds and cabin itself in shape for the Bald Knobber re-enactment on 12 Oct. Other volunteers worked on the tennis courts, restrooms, fairgrounds and barns. Rick continued working on the cabin area Sunday morning, power-washing the community plaques and the shelter floor of the set. We will need more folks turning out this Saturday--the plaques still need some paint and touch-up (we have the paint, will need ladders), an inventory of the cabin contents needs to be done, and the old cookstove in the cabin needs to be treated for rust and blacked. Much of the grounds cleanup itself is done. Ingrid was a casualty--she won't thank me for this, but y'all would surely sympathize--during the grounds clean-up. Trimming vines and shrub branches from the cabin, belatedly she realized that one vine in particular was poison ivy, and so she spent Sunday and Monday treating the results. On Sunday, the quarterly meeting for the White River Valley Historical Society was held. Meeting for sandwiches at 1 PM, the official business began at 2. Gordon McCann of Springfield brought Taney Countian Jim Beeler and played some wonderful music on acoustic guitar and fiddle, performing many of the same songs our ancestors did. At 3:30, rehearsals for the Bald Knobber reenactment began down in the park. Y'all that live in the area--and I know there are quite a few--missed out on some great "fellowship", for lack of a better term. I've not had a chance to verify this with Jeff (Cemetery Committee Chair), who was out of town over the weekend, but went ahead (sorry, Jeff!) and set a Cemetery Workshop for Monday, 16 Sep, at 6 PM at the Old Jail. The next Cemetery Hop will be Saturday, 21 Sep, at 8 AM, to meet at the Jail, as well. We've been making good progress on the cemetery work, and there's some exciting developments within the committee. Congratulations go out to Curtis and Sara Copeland for the birth of their daughter, Olivia, on 3 September, 2002, in Springfield, MO. Curtis is the Historic Sites Chairman for the historical society, and performs as Nat Kinney in the Bald Knobber reenactment. We are going to need volunteers for the White River Valley Gathering, to be held 12 October, 2002. If you can help us out, please let me know--you do not have to be a member of the society to come "play" with us! Gotta get ready for work (the paying job)! Y'all have a GREAT week! Don't forget to check out the "Events" section of the WRVHS website frequently--now that Greg's shown me a quick and relatively painless way to upload pages, it's fairly easy for me to keep that updated! Married 1)Mary Ann ? and 2) Lucinda Williamson (who I listed as Lou Martin below).. Some of Jesse's brothers/sisters I have on this documentation includes: Tom, Doll, Ann, Mattie, Linc, Elizabeth.. I am currently researching the Jennings line (as well as the Humphrey line) in Taney County, Missouri. The information provided to me by my grandmother does not match anything I have found during my genealogy research in the past. Information provided by grandmother.. Jesse Martin Jennings born 1845 in Tennessee married Lou Martin born 1857 in Forsyth, Missouri There is 1 child I know of they had who is Mary Ann Jennings born 1886, marrying Lewis Edward Humphrey, born 1881. Both of them were born in Forsyth, Missouri. Would anyone be able to help me with this line? Thanks, Angela Miller
Hi there. I had taken a long break from genealogy and thought I would get back into it. My gggrandfather is James Humphrey (born 1/10/1835), marrying 1) Mary Brown (born 1845) and 2) Martha Colleen (born 12/25/1851). James and Mary had the following children Susan Virgil Martha James Joseph James and Martha had the following children Lewis and John (twins) --> my ggrandfather is Lewis born 1881 Mary Nellie Nette I was looking at the past messages posted to the Taney County board messages and noticed someone inquired on Virgil Humphrey marrying May Spellman in 1901 and moved to Hardin, Ray County, Missouri. Just wondering if anyone is currently subscribed to the list who I have connections to or could provide some information. Thanks, Angela Miller
Hey, As I've mentioned in past emails, every single link on the former WRV website is different now; only the "home page" URL is the same. I've re-done and re-uploaded the website; partly in update, partly in focus-change, and partly because it needed simplification. If you have bookmarked certain pages within the former WRV website (especially for Taney records), you will need to start at the homepage, go to Taney, then go to the area you want, to re-bookmark it. I've not changed the names of the pages, so be sure you delete your old bookmark first. This is off the subject, but wondering about the West Nile Virus? We are going to be in Taney County around Oct 4th thru the 6th or 7th, am kinda concerned as we plan to check the cemeteries in and around southern Mo. Thanks for any response. Wanda
I don't think you will find it exclusive to this area anymore. Common sense will prevail to repel mosquitoes just like you would at home. Be sure to keep some repellant in your vehicle & spray as you get out of the vehicle. Additionally you might give it a go of an extra layer around your pant legs for other creepy crawlers like those stinking ticks I find once in awhile. Good hunting~~ Joy who lives in SW MO.
