I am trying to track down the burial place of Mary Isabel Bennett (Mitchell) Peacock. Isaac Peacock was her second husband. I do not know if she was buried at Chadwick, Christian Co., or Swansville, where may of the other Mitchells are buried, or not. Does anyone know where ole Isaac Peacock, b. in the early 1800s was buried? It could be anywhere in the Greene Co., MO area. Let me know if anyone has any idea out there. Thanks! I think these Meltons do possibly connect, the IN and TN folks, via their earlier connections in Pittsylvania Co., VA. I have connected them back in the early 1700s. This is via Crispin Shelton and his brother, Daniel; I think; they were both sons of Ralph, but there were five or six other kids too. These folks also tie to the Mustain folks of Greene and Dallas Counties, back to Ralph, etc. Not all of the Pittsylvania Co. Sheltons are the same folks. Mine were all Sheltons; others in the same era, early 1700s, had been Cheltons that changed the 'c' to an 's.' I have a file with lots of information on these folks if anyone is interested, I can send a gedcom or gen report. Howdy, folks! Well, somebody, somewhere, did a good "gen deed" and passed the Crunkleton tombstone information on the the right place. There was a Crunkleton family in Boone Co. AR, and Loretta's brother's wife wrote me Sunday. (I'm just now answering my mail--been busy) Loretta was buried in Crawford Cemetery, near Harrison, in Boone Co. AR. The stone--although I think it's in pretty good shape--was replaced some time ago, but no one knew what happened to the old stone. (Ever suspicious, I wonder if the new one was put up because the old one was gone?) Anyway, as soon as I get back the details, the stone will be returned to its rightful place, whether in the cemetery or in the possession of the family. Thanks to all who passed the information on--I'm not quite sure how Mrs. Crunkleton found out about it, she doesn't say--so I don't know where to pinpoint the helper. But whoever passed it on, I thank you! Vonda

Although I didn't find any of these particular books there, I wanted to tell you about the best place I've found to locate used genealogical or historical books to purchase. It's called the Advanced Book Exchange and consists of a cooperative effort by thousands of used book dealers with an online searchable inventory. You will find them at www.abebooks.com. Well, The Springfield paper didn't call me today, so I presume that means I was a little too outspoken...hmmmpf. They should hear my daddy sometimes. Inquiries about Ernie Deane's books led me to do some searching...and guess what I found? A link to the Mountaineer Bookstore...I'll be durned if us hillbillies just ain't gettin' right up-town, now...LOL You'll have to click a few times from the link below, but go to the Bookstore, and if you want an Ernie Deane book, type in "ernie deane" (without the quotes), and the 2 books they sell will come up. http://www.runningriver.com/ I plan to put a link to it from the website, one of dese days. I've also been informed I'm not the only one "het up" about the "one big Disneyland." Good. While Chris Myer's heart may be in the right place, the idea that we need a new theme when we had a perfectly good one prior to 1990 still burns me. It makes me madder when I realize "they" don't remember. Y'all can write to the editor of the Springfield News-Leader if you're of a mind to at mailto:[email protected] I believe is the link. Robert Leger is the editor, and his email addy is mailto:[email protected] Vonda ListMom for MOTaney and MO-AR-WRV http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~moarwrv/
I made a mistake about the Thurmans instead of Daniel Thurmans daughter Cintha, it was or rather should have been Sarah. Sorry. Bonnie
James Lafayette Ellison is my G-Grandfather, who married Sarah Ann Thurman, This I believe is the Fate that Ingrid is referring to, The other Fate is Francis Marions son Fate, Marion's family lived in Hollister, while my Fate was older and lived in Cedar Creek. His brother Francis Marion was married to first Catherine Major Page, and second to Casandra "Sadie" Lewallen. I am talking about an older group of Ellisons than you are, Maybe. I think I am getting very confused. Both Francis Marion and James Lafayette were children (among others) of James Ellison and Hetty Casey Ellison. Are you related also? Bonnie
I recently posted a message seeking information on any descendants of General W. Thurman (1837 - 1903) of Taney County, Missouri. General, whose name may have been Everett, was married to my gr-gr-grandmother, Martha Franklin Walker Thurman (1843 - 1890). I descend from one of Martha's first two children by her first husband, Thomas H. Walker (killed in Civil War). Martha had six children by General Thurman: Hannah Thurman b. 1870; Lenora Thurman b. 1872; Sterling or Sterl Thurman b. 1876; Theodore Thurman b. 1878; James Martin Thurman b. May 17, 1881 and died June 1, 1941, in Oroville, California; and Lucy Thurman Hill b. 1883. Sterling Thurman had a grape vineyard in Forsyth. His two known children were Ellen Thurman Olsen (wife of Kenneth Olsen) and Warren Thurman who married Florence Kelly, daughter of Charles Kelly. James Martin Thurman was married to Hattie Mae Beckett (June 11, 1881 - Aug. 23, 1944) in Poplar Bluff, MO. Their children were: Gertrude "Gertie" Thurman (1899 - 1911); Francis Thurman (died as a child of smallpox); Pearl Ellen Thurman Watson Hammers (Sept. 23, 1909 in Hollister, MO - Aug. 1996 in California); Andy Thurman (died in Placerville, California, at age 20); Goldie "Reet" Thurman b. 1916; George Gray Thurman (Oct. 22,1918 in MO - Oct. 21, 1942 in Butte, California); Fred "Dood" Thurman (died in July 1982 in Oroville, California); Alfred Thurman (died in the 1980s in Ukiah, California). Lucy Thurman Hill b. Dec. 1883 - married James Henry Hill, a son of Asa David Hill and Sarilda Jane Adkins Hill (Mar. 17, 1881 - Mar. 9, 1970 in Carroll, MO); and had two children: Winifred and Robert Hill. After Martha Franklin Walker Thurman's death in 1890, General Thurman married Mary M. "Margaret" Filbeck b. Dec. 10, 1865 - d. May 2, 1938. They had three children: (Twins) Oscar (who settled in Washington State and Arthur "Red" Thurman (who lived in the Sacramento area) b. May 1893; and Priscilla Ann Thurman Hampton b. Dec. 22, 1901, in Branson; married Richard Luther Hampton on Dec. 26, 1917, in Forsyth. Priscilla died July 31, 1983, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. If anyone has any information on anyone in this particular family, please let me know. Also, if anyone knows the possible burial sites for General or Martha Thurman, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks. Mike Walker

Hi Dolores, Since you & several others have mentioned the PARTON surname in your messages, does your data, or that of anyone else researching the name PARTON or PARTIN, include anything on the earlier generations of the PARTON family such as parents, grandparents, etc. of Mary's 2nd husband Calvin PARTON, or any other PARTON/PARTIN family who came to MO quite early?? I have PARTON/PARTIN lines that were in Howard and/or Chariton Counties of MO but have not been aware of them being connected to Taney County although we are seeing all kinds of data connecting families between these 2 areas in MO (referring specifically to recent postings about the CUPP families that moved back & forth between Chariton & Taney Counties). Hi Bonnie, Like you, I too am not very savvy about sending records by e-mail, however, you mention James Lafayette ELLISON as your gr-grandfather. I have 2 men in my Taney Co. database with the name Lafayette ELLISON and wonder if either of them is the same person you are talking about. Here is what I have: 1st person: James Lafayette ELLISON s/o James ELLISON & Hester "Hetty" CASEY b.11 April 1845-MO d.Jan 1892-Taney Co,MO md 1865-1866 prob. Taney Co., MO Sarah A.______(last name unknown) b.16 Feb 1840-MO d.24 Aug 1903-Taney Co.,MO both buried Kissee Mills Cem., Taney Co,MO Known children: 1) Marion Francis "Frank" ELLISON b.27 Nov 1867-Taney Co. d.7 Dec 1904-Taney Co. md 20 Sept 1896-Taney Co. Hattie DUNLAP 2) Lonnie E. ELLISON b.8 April 1882-Taney Co. d.28 Jan 1962-Taney Co. md 15 Jan 1904-Taney Co. Lee Ola BROWN 3) James ELLISON b.1875-1876-Taney Co. d.????? md 28 Aug 1892-Taney Co. H. Louena/Lovena DUNLAP 2nd person: James ELLISON & Hester "Hetty" CASEY had son named Francis Marion ELLISON who married twice: (1) Catharine M. (last name unknown) ca 1863-1864-prob. Taney Co. who was b.25 Sept 1845-MO and d.16 Jan 1879-Taney Co,MO; then Francis married (2) Sadie LEWALLEN 15 May 1879-Taney Co. who was b.16 Sept 1860-MO and died 27 Jan 1935-Taney Co,MO. Francis & 1st wife Catharine had 7 children that I know about & one of them was named Lafayette ELLISON b.Oct 1870-Taney Co., MO and he is the only one of the 7 children for whom I do not have any further information. I wonder if his full name was James Lafayette ELLISON, also if either of these is the "Fate" ELLISON who Ingrid Albers said was a friend of her gr-grandfather, George Stacey???? Does any of this look familiar to you???????? If so, I'd sure like to hear from you or any others who are researching this family, and maybe you can help me to straighten out my records in the event I have made a mistake!!!! Of course, I'm more than willing to share all the data I have on these families but would probably have to send it snailmail. Let me know if there is anything I can look up in my records for you.
