Of the two major Sullivan Co newspapers, only the Milan Republican has surviving issues for the 1882 time period. I assumed any such hanging would have been a major item. I found nothing to indicate it took place, no news item or obit. March 6 is a little early to plow in northern Missouri, but who knows back then. The weather that week varied a lot. It snowed 2" on Mar 7. Not likely anyone was plowing then. I doubt that any "renegades" were operating late after the war. There was a lot of bad blood in Missouri but I think retributions that late were few and far between.
