Pauline had a brother, John, and a sister, Edith. Pauline founded the Missouri chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an organization of women educators (their web site is www.deltakappagamma.org. She was also on the faculty at Central Missouri State University, and I believe she never married. At one time there was a small college in the town of Humphreys, known as the Humphreys Academy. I believe the handwritten note in your book relates to that college. Thomas Marshall Humphreys was the son of Elisha Emory Humphreys and Mary Ann Dobbins. Elisha and Mary Ann had a total 13 children, Thoma Marshall (b. 1854, d.1931)Elizabeth Jane (Russell), Emma Alice (Winters), John Andrew, Sarah Margaret (Moberly), Charles Cook, Minnie (Brown), Frank, James G., Verne Naomi, Helen (Henicker), Herman Clide, and William F. I am the great-granddaughter of John Andrew, and grew up in the town of Humphreys. My parents, John Birck and Edna Vivian (Tomblin) Humphreys, still live there. This is probably more information than you needed, but I have some additional family history if you are interested.
