The family was living in Greene County, IL in 1850 census, but moved to northern Missouri in 1856, where some additional children were born. I believe James was 7th of 8 children born, likely in Sullivan County, where David's parents (Joseph & Mary A. (James) Stanley) settled. David also had a brother James, but he died in Illinois while the family was moving to Missouri. In same family, there was a James B. Stanley born in Sullivan County on 2 July 1860 and James Russel Stanley born there on 2 April 1894. Ken Camber (hapnken@teleport.com)
