Boston Center was a one room school and the hub-bub of the community at that time and has been called the Boston Center Community Building for 50 years as of 2003. The land was acquired for the school in November 1906. For almost 100 years it has had no running water and only an outhouse. We have come to a time if we want Boston Center to be saved, it is time for some progress. Within the next two months we will have running water and a septic. We have started a building fund to erect a building behind the original schoolhouse (which we still use) and a dining room/kitchen and bathrooms will be built. The first Saturday night of every month we have had a pot-luck supper and music by local musicians. Now on the third Saturday we will still have music but everyone will bring desserts only. So the first and third Saturday nights come and join us at Boston Center Community Building on Hwy 248 from 6-10. The community centers boundary lines have changed and now encompass part of Stone County. The board voted in the change at the January board meeting. Also in January we became a non-profit organization. The forms were filed and granted in Springfield, MO. At this time we are working on a 501c3 to help obtain contributions and grants, along with building. On April 7, 2001 Boston Center Community is putting on a day of fun called the "Spring Fling". There will be a BBQ, auction, pie-bake off, music, games for all ages with certificates and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons. We hope to have flowers for sale and at this time we have recipes being gathered to print a cookbook. Time:2-10 April 7. Rain date is April 14. Please come and join us. We have also started a Historical Archives and are interested in photos or documents. Please contact me at punkin@inter-linc.net
